This beautiful and luxurious holiday home is situated in a wetland area close to the beautiful historic towns of Vollenhove, Blozijl and Steenwijk and the villages like Kalenberg, Wanneperveen and Giethoorn. Giethoorn is also called 'the Venice of the North' because of its many canals and bridges. In Giethoorn you can sail with your own punt or a whisper boat through the local canals, under the characteristic arch bridges, on both sides farms with beautiful thatched roofs. Giethoorn has a lot to offer. Here you will find lots of delicious restaurants, terraces, museums and cafes.

 

You stay on the edge of the nature reserve "Weerribben-Wieden". The area was created in the time that peat cutters won the peat in strips. Where the peat disappeared, water came in its place and that's how the beautiful lakes and ditches came into being. Due to storms and flooding of the Zuiderzee, the current 'Wieden' arose, large pieces of open water. Here you can sail and swim today. The area is characterized by varied flora and fauna and is considered one of those idyllic areas that seems to have been invented for water sports enthusiasts and fishermen. The area has more to offer besides water, water sports and swimming! You can enjoy cycling along picturesque towns such as Blokzijl, Vollenhove, Zwartsluis and Kalenberg. You can also walk here. There are some nice hiking trails in the area. Sometimes you need your boots. But do not you want to go out? Here you can also sunbathe, relax on your terrace.
