The Holiday home

A place to be comfortable and at ease, to pause and dwell on, close to nature, in a beautiful fenced garden (2000 m2)―which you will have on your own, exclusively. With sunny and shadowy places, an octagonal pool (4 m diameter) with removable ladder; a sandbox; a generous, partly shaded, terrace, well sheltered in case of mistral (the typical wind in Provence). The lovingly equipped homelike house has 90m2, 3 bed rooms with 5 beds (2x2 single beds which can be assembled, 1x1 single bed). Fully equipped kitchen with stove/oven, with spacious fridge/freeze, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher and radio. The bath room has a tube with shower facility and a bidet. The water closet is separate. The ample living and dining room (one large room) has a chimney, sofa, satellite-TV and DVD-player (with blue-ray) as well as a high-quality stereo system. There is no washing machine, but a top equipped self-service laundry can be used in Apt (7 km). Parking is directly on the property. The site hosts a great variety of plants and birds (listen to the nightingales in spring!), it is adjacent to a little forest.

Located 60 km from Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, 7 km north of the famous market town of Apt, 700 m to the south from the historical and still very living village of St. Saturnin lès Apt, 360 m above sea level. – A paradise also for children!

Here, closeness to strong Mediterranean nature can be found in an historic cultural landscape - in the biosphere reserve and landscape park Luberon! You will discover archaic Bories („stone iglus“) in the maquis, and hidden places of high culture, as the famous Abbaye de Sénanque in a ravine valley nearby in the Vaucluse massif. An okzitanian culture, early Christianized, on a strong Celtic substrate: all this characterizes the cultural history of this wonderful landscape.

Land use around the house is a hybrid of agriculture (especially with olives and cherries) and detached houses. Above the lively village, the Vaucluse Massif, which is grooved by well-navigable ravine valleys, begins to rise to 1,100 m.

In the socially, economically and culturally lively village of St. Saturnin lès Apt, there are two bakeries, a pastry shop, a small SPAR for everyday needs, a butcher, a farmer‘s shop bistrots and restaurants, a pharmacy, a new medical care centre (in Chemin St. Roch above), a post office,and a weekly market.

Especially interesting for tourists are the old mill with a breathtaking view of the valley plain which is surrounded by pre-alpine mountain chains, the old castle on the 'rock ship' of the old fortified village, and the beautiful water reservoir between the two.
There is a library with 24h public wireless lan (also receivable from outside the building).

The famous and unique ochre rocks of Roussillon, Rustrel and the ochre mines in Goult (Gargas) are only 7-20 km away. The mountain Perréal (an old Celtic place with the chapel Sainte Radegonde on the summit) invites you to walk right from the house. In Gordes you can visit an old Borrie village (round houses made of layered stones). 20 km away is the famous and impressive Fontaine de Vaucluse: the largest karst spring in Europe, which rises from a cave under an impressive rock face at the end of a valley.

We live with our two children on Lake Constance.
Nikolas' parents built the house in 1986 and started planting and growing many cypresses and pines before the construction, which now beautifully frames the property and provided shelter for many growing shrubs in the undergrowth, so that the majority of the property is now also protected from the view.
As a child, Nikola spent many holidays in St. Saturnin les Apt with his parents.
More than 10 years ago, after the death of his father, we began to rent this beautiful, heavenly place where you can relax and enjoy yourself.

wir hatten 3 Wochen gebucht. am Ankunfstag schlechtes Wetter. Wir haben die Elektroheizgeräte eingeschaltet, das führte zum Stromausfall. Die Nacht mit Taschenlampe verbracht. Morgens das ganze Haus kalt, keine Möglichkeit zum Kaffeekochen da alles stromabhängig. vorzeitige Abreise, da keine Wetterbesserung in Sicht. die Straßenbaustelle wurde uns vom Vermieter vorher nicht mitgeteilt, wir wären wohl garnicht angereist. Wir hatten uns ein ruhiges Haus vorgestellt. Das Haus ist eigentlich gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. Ist aber nur für warmes Wetter zuempfehlen. Der Pool war schon bei unserer Ankunft verschmutzt. Wir wurden von Frau Flamme empfangen, sehr freundlich aber Sie kann nur französich, daher Verständigung für uns sehr schwierig
