Travel guide Jungholz
A Piece of Tyrol in the Allgäu
The mountain village of Jungholz is a municipality in Tyrol, Austria, which belongs to the region
Tannheimer Tal in the Reutte district (or
Außerfern). The locals call Jungholz a "piece of Tyrol in the Allgäu" because the municipal area is surrounded by German municipalities. Only at one point near the summit of the Sorgschrofen is Jungholz connected to
Austria. The village can only be reached via German federal territory. Coming from the north, you can reach your holiday apartment or house via the A7 motorway. Via Oy-Mittelberg, you can take the German Alpine Road towards Wertach/Oberjoch. After about four kilometers, the road to Jungholz branches off. If you are traveling by train, go to Kempten main station and from there to Oy-Mittelberg. Buses or taxis will then take you to Jungholz. Book an accommodation or an apartment, a house with a view of the mountains, a kitchen, a herb garden, and a balcony in the best location according to your personal wishes at a reasonable price and enjoy a relaxing, eventful, and peaceful holiday with your family in the mountain village.
Beauty in Mountains and Valleys
The whole of Tyrol belongs to a temperate climate zone with Atlantic, continental, and Mediterranean influences. In spring, skiers can enjoy the slopes once more, while the valleys are already in full bloom. In May, temperatures usually reach around 20 degrees - perfect for cozy café visits in Jungholz and the surrounding area. In summer, interesting hikes in the beautiful mountains or swimming in lakes are ideal. The values rise to an average of 25 degrees Celsius. Autumn brings you fantastic views of the breathtaking Tyrolean landscape. At night, temperatures drop to around 0 degrees, and the first snow announces itself. Winter finally offers endless skiing fun. Book an affordable
ski holiday in Tyrol with a holiday home or apartment from private owners and dive into the adventure in the family ski area near the mountain village!
Cooking Tradition with a Seal of Quality
During your trip, visit the rustic alpine pastures and huts or the down-to-earth inns and fine gourmet restaurants. Those who want to discover
Tyrol with an affordable holiday apartment or house should also explore the region's special culinary side. The typical cooking tradition relies on local ingredients, wild herbs, and full flavor. Popular dishes include cheese dumplings in a hearty soup, Schlutzkrapfen, Kaiserschmarrn, Gröstl with fried egg, or a golden brown Kiachl with cranberry jam. Throughout the region, there are about 120 inns with the "Tiroler Wirtshaus" seal of quality. Here, only products from their own cultivation or from local farmers are processed, as well as delicious wild herbs. The master chefs in this region have a combined total of 110 toques. Culinary tip: Enjoy the local delicacies in the ten Tyrolean gourmet regions or on the various gourmet routes.
All About Winter Sports
Jungholz is known as the only alpine herb village. A beautiful herb garden has been created near the "Maria Namen" church, where mainly women's herbs such as tea, wild, or fragrant herbs are cultivated. Enjoy the wonderful scent or bake herb bread in one of the courses. Here you can also make your own herbal ointments or herbal soaps. Particularly beautiful: the herbal hikes through the municipal area. Hiking is always a good idea and can be ideally combined with a
holiday with a dog in Außerfern! From Jungholz, you can climb the Sorgschrofen. Mountain tours are also recommended from Unterjoch. A visit to the heated rock pool provides the necessary refreshment after the exertion. The biggest highlight is the small but wonderful Jungholz ski area, located at the Sorgschrofen. There are easy and medium-difficulty slopes and two child-friendly chairlifts. The "N'Ice Bear Kinderland" with its archway course, warm fairytale igloos, and funny figures is specially designed for children. In the "Snow Learnland," your little ones can practice skiing. If you want to try the difficult slopes without children, you can entertain your little ones in the Tanni Children's Club in the meantime. Experienced skiers and boarders will get their money's worth on the "Snow Raceland" race track - with integrated timing. Finally, you can relax during your stay on two sun islands (with beach chairs) in a secluded part of the ski area. In the nature park region
Lechtal-Reutte, you will also find one of the most beautiful cross-country skiing areas in Tyrol. Ice skaters will also find a wide range of options in the region. Impressive: The largest contiguous ice surface in the region awaits you at the Telfs sports center - partly covered and partly outdoors. Rent an accommodation or an apartment, a house, or an apartment with a view of the mountains, a herb garden, a balcony, and a kitchen at a reasonable price in the best location and enjoy a stay full of peace, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences with your family. Many possibilities await you here in the family ski area!
