Heron Shoal Cottage is a 1,200 square foot log home with 3 bedrooms, a great room, kitchen and dining area. Heron Shoal is approved by Nova Scotia's Ministry of Tourism and has been awarded a 3.5 Star designation by the Canada Select rating system. Rich wood walls and floors give the cottage an atmosphere conducive to rest and relaxation. A warm interior is ensured by a circulation insert in the fireplace, plus electric baseboard heat. Lots of windows and high ceilings give it a bright open feeling. The sunrise and the setting of the sun are spectacular sights from the large deck and, at night you won't believe the stars! The fully-equipped kitchen makes cooking easy and fun, and the gas barbecue gives that essential vacation flavour to fish, steak, chicken and burgers. One can spend hours quietly watching the shorebirds and other wildlife in their natural habitat. The three hundred foot length of the property's shoreline is less than 100' from the front deck, affording a full 180-degree water view of the Northumberland Strait, the warmest salt waters north of the Carolinas. This allows you the opportunity to enjoy the tranquility of the setting while enjoying a cool drink, a good book or just the view. In May and June the lobster boats can be seen bobbing up and down hauling in their delicious cargo. Prince Edward Island is just visible on the horizon. The rocky shore is a rich source of fossils and other treasures delivered by the sea. Behind the house is a mixed forest of predominantly spruce, alder, oak and birch, home to deer and many other woodland creatures. The quiet roads of the peninsula are perfect for walking and biking.
