Today Polchow belongs to the municipality Glowe and lives approx. 350 humans there. The small locality did not overflow from tourism yet. In the local centre there are a restaurant with external terrace, a Fischraeucherei and various bicycle rental businesses. For families, nature lovers, anglers and Strandgaenger is Polchow more genuinly secrettaps. The Schaabe with its beginning in Glowe and its end with Breege/Juliusruh is ten kilometers for a long time a Nehrung wooded with Kiefern and connects the peninsulas Jasmund and Wittow on ruegen. Ten kilometers fine white sand, the longest and most beautiful nature beach on ruegen, entice almost for bathing or simply only for being lazy at the beach......

The small lane village is because of the western Abdachung Jasmunds, directly at the large Jasmunder Bodden and belongs to the municipality Glowe. The place name comes from the slawischen "Polchov" and means "Bilchmaus". 1320 sold Witzlaw III. to the brothers Dargomar and Hermann of Jasmund among other things the village "Poldechow". Since then the place belonged to the rule Spyker. Polchow belonged to the largest villages of reprimanding and consisted 1577 of six yards and nine Katen. In the process 18. and 19. Century the farmers were put and 1867 gave it in Poissow three Katen, 30 Buedner and five Haeusler. For many centuries the inhabitants lived only on fishing and on the agriculture.
