At the doors of the Douro Valley, these luxury houses are a natural refuge, a sublime meeting between the mountain ranges and the river. Located on the banks of Douro river, in Santa Cruz do Douro-Baião (90 Km from Porto), 300 m distant of a public wharf and marina (Santa Cruz do Douro and Caldas de Aregos), in a place where the body and the mind find a calm balance, there are perfect spaces to meditate, to walk, to read a book or simply to feel the freshness of the water.
It is a nucleus of four houses distributed by the slope, between the mountain range and the river, managed under the luxury country houses concept. The architecture is traditional with contemporary interiors and great windows enabling the connection with the nature and the sublime scenery on the Douro Valley of calm waters, the village of Caldas de Aregos and the verdant slopes of the mountain range punctuated by scattered white small houses. It is another Douro, not the wine producing area, rather a hidden and very welcoming nook.
The houses are independent and all with great lounges with salamander and kitchen, decorated with a modernity touch on the rural rustic thing, and ideal for families or for groups of friends. In the design of the interiors original stone walls were recovered and pieces drawn associating originality to much comfort. The guests enjoy an excellent communal swimming pool on the banks of the river and terrace with panoramic river views.
Casa da Rocha spreads over two floors, 2 twin rooms, 1 shower room, living room with wood oven and small kitchen without oven, private balcony, sleeps 1-4 persons, breakfast included.

Douro Valley
The Douro is a valley, a river, a vineyard, it is wine. Over the river, the human influence, who transformed the slate mountains into country and walls, an epic common effort of making different cultures meet.
Protected from the damp Atlantic hoists by the mountains of Marão and Montemuro, the production area was defined as wine area for the first time in 1757 - the first viticulture regulation of the world - in the northeast of Portugal, between Barqueiros and Mazouco, near the Spanish border. This is the wine country!
The area extends today over 250.000 hectares, whereby however the vineyard takes only 40,000 hectares, deep embedded in the Douro river basin, and in its tributaries: Corgo, Torto, Pinhão, Tua, Côa, amongst others. The entire area is divided in three sub-regions: in the west, the Baixo Corgo, in the center the Cima Corgo and in the east the Douro Superior - with different microclimatic particularities, however always with cold winters and hot and dry summers.
The combination of these factors, as well as the selective choice of stocks is decisive for the quality and purity of the wines, which are no more than the effect of the harmonious marriage between the earth, the climate and the love and art of humans.
But the Douro is not only vineyard, wine, almonds, olive oil... It is also its people, the wine farmers, who shaped its history and traditions; and the still untouched idyllic Quintas, with their inviting welcome.
But rather than reading about it, you should discover the Port Wine Route with your own eyes.
Baiao , Norte , Portugal
Baião is a very ancient territory taking its name from the Christian warrior D. Arnaldo de Bayan or Bayão, who conquered the region from the Moors in the tenth century.
The countryside´s distinctive features are influenced by the River Douro and scattered about the landscape are a number of small chapels, manor houses and large estates. Magnificent views of the surrounding landscape can be appreciated from the Alto do Baião.
