Take a ski or summer vacation in Bansko in the beautiful Pirin mountains. Situated above the town at the foot of the Pirin National Park - a UNESCO heritage site - Mountain Dream is a 4* hotel and apartment complex boasting an 18m diameter swimming pool, spa centre fitness room, sauna, hot tub, jacuzzi, steam room, restaurant, bar, games room and a launderette. Some facilities incur a charge. F14 is situated on the fourth floor of block F and is served by a lift. It comprises a large hall, two bedrooms each with two single beds that can be pushed together and the larger room can take a camp bed (easy to erect & stable) or cot - in fact, at a pinch, both - as well, a large living room with a double sofa bed and fully fitted kitchen, two toilets and one shower, and two balconies. Being our second home we have ensured that it contains plenty of equipment, crockery and cutlery. The kitchen has 4 hot plates, oven, dishwasher, microwave and a fridge/freezer. The living room has a television, dvd player, a selection of dvds, books and games. Because we have grandchildren we are able to provide a cot, high chair, baby bath and other items for young children. For older children the 2 camp beds are perfect. They are very stable and comfortable. There is also plenty of storage space. The views from the 2 balconies are lovely - one overlooks the valley to the north and the other the mountains to the south. In winter ski one of the longest pistes in Europe - 16 km (75 km total) through varied terrain from the high mountain plateau down through forested trails to the lower Gondola station. From Mountain Dream an easy, almost level, 200m walk across the mountain takes you to join the final run to the lower gondola station in the morning (or take the complex bus) and slip off the ski road in the evening to return to the apartment. Eat at the hotel restaurant or take a stroll into the historic centre of Bansko to enjoy one of the over 100 mehanas (taverns) many of which are beautifully and imaginatively decorated.

Mountain Dream is approximately 200 m across from the home run (Ski Road). This enables easy access to the run down to the gondola in the morning and allows a relaxed return walk over almost level ground at the end of a day’s skiing. Mountain Dream is situated one kilometer up from the gondola station. Follow the main car route into the town from Razlog then turn right towards the gondola station. Mountain Dream is a complex of 123 apartments in seven adjoining individual blocks together with a 4 star hotel where the pool, spa and fitness centre is situated. It has been built to a high standard and boasts many extras other apartments just dream about. F14, on the fourth floor of block F, has been further adapted to provide extra safety for young children.

The ‘all season’ resort of Bansko, is situated in the south west of Bulgaria at the foot of the Pirin mountains 936m above sea level and has a population of around 10,000. The old town, dominated by the church’s beautiful bell tower is situated near the centre and is most picturesque with narrow cobbled streets and quaint old buildings. It is worth exploring as are the approximately 100 mehanas, the local restaurants, which are nearly always atmospheric and attractive. There is plenty of nightlife especially during the ski season including a number of night clubs. The Pirin National Park area where the ski slopes are situated, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and encompasses some 60 alpine peaks which rise above 2,500m. A number of almost extinct animal species can still be found here. Winter is when the town becomes fully alive. It is one of Bulgaria’s new generation, rapidly expanding ski resorts boasting some 75km of runs. Over the last few years the resort has been rejuvenated with the installation of state of the art lifts and piste maintenance equipment. Snow cover is maintained by the use of snow cannon and the seven kilometer home run from the top of the gondola is floodlit. This run is gentle but attractive, a great finish to a day or a pleasing and enjoyable achievement for a beginner. With the highest ski altitude at 2600m and the bottom of the gondola being at 990m, Bansko's longest run is a massive16 km. Cross-country trails, a snow-board fun park and an ice rink add to the fun. With temperatures reaching the low 30s Centigrade at times, in summer Bansko becomes an outdoor community. Café awnings proliferate and the old ladies dressed in traditional style sit along benches gossiping awaiting the cows who in the evenings amble their way along the roads to their individual homes. On Sundays there is a large market and every year there are a variety of festivals including folk and beer festivals as well as the popular international Jazz festival in August.
