The Region - The region of Achaia Achaia in the Peloponnese is characterized by the contrast of mountains and sea. It offers a magnificent diversity scenic landscapes: idyllic beaches, fertile coastal plains, rolling hills, rocky gorges and dark mountain forests. Everywhere there are traces of the turbulent history: prehistoric and classical sites and old churches, monasteries and forts. In the picturesque mountain villages with ancient stone houses, time seems to stand really still. The third largest city of Greece, Patras, offers next to ancient places the colorful and lively atmosphere of a modern port city that should not be missed! Ancient and Modern - a very direct experience, the most important sites of ancient Greece - Epidaurus, Corinth, Mycenae, Delphi and Olympia are easily accessible in a day trip. (50 min.) From Aegion runs several times a day, a car ferry across the Gulf of Corinth over to the mainland to Itea, Delphi and Galaxidi. The spectacular suspension bridge at Rio is worth the trip over! Pure bathing the sea are lined up together many small seaside resorts. Even in midsummer, you can accommodate and carefree bathing experience without mass tourism, and good fish tavernas, restaurants and bars.

Only 6 km from the sea, 35 km from Patras and 180 km from Athens, you have a perfect base for day trips to ancient sites such as Delphi (100 km), Olympia (150 km), Mycenae (150 km) and Corinth ( 90 km). Breathtaking walks you expect when you explore the immediate area on foot, including one in Nachtigallenweg sunset. In Fußmarschnähe awaits the village tavern Kristallenia \"with local, delicious Greek cuisine at reasonable prices. A baker in the morning three times a week brings fresh bread to the village. Aigion city offers in about 10 minutes away very good shopping, supermarkets butchers, fish shops and a large Saturday farmer\'s market with fresh produce from the region.
