Villa Olival is a stylish detached holiday villa, located on the easterly mountain slope of the highest point of the Sotavento (= Eastern Algarve). There is an amazing view from the terraces and the private pool area over the evergreen hilly landscape. Looking south over the trees you will see the glittering Atlantic Ocean. An easy 15 minute drive takes you to the ferry boat in Fuseta.
The main terrace is east facing, partly covered, offering you pleasant shade with an built in barbecue to one side. Down some steps, passing the gnarled olive tree, you come to your private pool. It sits on giant rocks, like a fortress. A little pavilion affords shade and shelters you from the wind; a outdoor pool shower adds to the pleasure. The heart of Villa Olival is the dining room, flooded with light through wide windows. The traditional, typical Portuguese tiled floor, the wood burner and the tasteful furniture guarantee you a cosy and comfortable stay. Discreet paintings, a selection of books and two wooden-framed windows towards the kitchen create that cosy flair inside. The medium sized kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, modern electric oven, a small store room; everything you could possibly wish for. In the rear of Villa Olival are the 2 bedrooms, each with twin beds, wardrobe, air conditioning, and bathrooms with shower, bidet and toilet. One of the two bedrooms is a little bit smaller and its bathroom is across the corridor. The 2nd bedroom is larger with an ensuite bathroom. Additionally there is also 1 very comfortable, modern fold-out sofa bed, perfect for 1-2 kids or youngsters. This bedroom is also equipped with satellite TV. Further entertainment such as TV, DVD-player games, stereo/CD-player are also available in the lounge. Villa Olival also boasts its own washing machine and car park. The immediate surroundings invite for strolls and gentle hikes. Moncarapacho, about 2,5 km drive away, has more than everything for your daily needs, even a little open air market, small supermarket, cafés, restaurants, kiosk for newspapers, post office and bank. Further afield you will find lovely little towns like Olhão near the coast or São Brás de Alportel in the hinterland.

Villa Olival has been built on a charming spacious plot of about 7.000 sq.m., in a complex of eight single individual villas. The expression for "olival" is an olive grove what it was formerly. Even the fencing of the area is unobtrusive and makes you feel secure. The electronic, automatically controlled door is the only entry point to the villas. On the very edge of all other villas, Villa Olival's location ensures there will be no one to disturb your absolutely privacy, no public traffic as the villa lies in a cul-de-sac.

Moncarapacho is an significant district belonging to Olhão. The town centre of Moncarapacho is always busy, with tourists and also with the locals. A museum, a church, a pottery, many other small shops, restaurants, cafés, bank, post office, hairdresser and a kiosk with international press and maps are within easy reach. 10 minutes' drive takes you to the nearest beach in Fuseta
Olhão is only 15 km from Faro airport. Within a 50 km stretch from Faro via Olhão to Manta Rota, you are entering the world famous and attractive nature reserve "Ria Formosa". Olhão's architecture features the famous Cubic white Algarvian houses, with their sunroofs, a style that is descended from the Arabs and is a symbol of Olhão along with the enormous high chimneys with the storks nesting on the top. If you walk through the streets of this town, you will feel the spirit of hard working men and fishing life here. It has a wonderful fish market and opposite is the vegetable and fruit market, open from Monday to Saturday. Around the market there are some cafés to take a break in, international press, bakeries, everything you wish. The adjoining "Avenida 5 de Outubro" is the main street for restaurants and bars, but do venture into the charming old part of the city, there is lots to be discovered...
Near the market you can take the ferry (schedule) boat or "Ria Taxi" to the romantic offshore islands of "Armona" or "Culatra". There is also a Marina for boats and yachts, and a 5 star hotel is due to open shortly. During the high season you can listen to an occasional live band in the park or visit the gypsy market and the flea market of Quelfes.
