Palazzolo is a farmhouse surrounded by farm vineyards and part of a farm of about 490 acres (200 hectares) in total surface. It has a private swimming pool 39x20 foots (about 11x6m) in size and a private garden, with a beautiful view on Chiana Valley and Mt. Cetona (Tuscany) and on Citta' della Pieve (Umbria). Palazzolo is a self-catering unit very suitable for families or groups of about ten people willing to combine a relaxing holiday in the countryside with the chance to visit places with archaeological, artistic and natural beauties in Tuscany, Umbria and Latium. It could be used for daily trips to Florence, Rome, Siena, Cortona, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Chianti, the Trasimeno Lake area and other beautiful destinations. The house combines the comfort of a villa with the rural location of an old farm-house and provides you with plenty of space to live in. Inside you can find old pictures of the last two centuries telling you the story of the farm, of the owners and of the territory. Palazzolo is located in Umbria, very close to the border to Tuscany, in an area anciently populated by the Etruscans, thus many archaeological findings discovered in the neighbourhood can be seen in the museum of Chiusi and in some tombs. To the north lies the Trasimeno lake; it is surrounded by old villages, where there are many towers and castles, and it has 3 islands (2 of which can be visited by boat). On the west side there are Chiana and Orcia valleys (the latter is a Unesco heritage site). The agricultural landscape is suggestive, with plenty of vineyards and olive groves, and in the area are located wineries producing good wines and olive mills. Nearby there are many small towns, that are rich in ancient remains from etruscan, Roman and medieval times and also in thermal spas. At the Umbrian side, there are many cities like Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi, which are impressive for their beauty and for the artistic and archaeological heritage, that you can find in their churches and museums. The house is located very close (about 300 mt) to the road going from Città della Pieve (that is at 3 km distance) to the hamlet of Ponticelli; so, although it is located in the countryside, it is very well connected to the main infrastructures. The area were the house is located is in Umbria, but is very close to the Tuscan border (less than 3 km) and to Latium. The closest Airport is Sant'Egidio, in Perugia, but due to its location (15 km from E35 motorway exits)Palazzolo can be easily reached from the following airports: » Florence (ca. 140 km), » Rome (ca. 180 km), » Pisa (ca. 212 km) and » Bologna (ca. 240 km), while Perugia (ca. 55 km) airport has Ryanair flights and internazional flights through Milano Malpensa

The town has its own atmosphere, with its buildings made in local bricks, its narrow alleys, its churches full of Perugino's and Perugino's school paintings. Additional Information

The house is suitable for elderly people only in the case that they can use the stairs, since all the bedrooms are located at the first floor. Children have plenty of space to play both outside and inside. Pets are considered, but in the case that they are accepted, they have to be looked after, since in the neighbourhood there are other farms with sheep dogs that sometimes are at loose.Top floor bedrooms are equipped with a closet room, while the other bedrooms have wardrobes. All the windows have mosquito nets so that you can keep the windows open in the summer nights. In the house is available a folding bed for babies and a highchair. On demand it is possible that we can provide others. At the 1st and 2nd floor, there is also a drawing room with a sofa. Ground floor includes two drawing rooms, fireplace, a dining room, kitchen, laundry and entrance hall. In the house there is a fully equipped laundry room, with washing machine, iron, iron board, etc. The house has a floor heating system and almost in each room there are thermostats that allow adjusting the temperature. Satellite television can be used only with free channels. The swimming pool is heated by solar panels. The house has its own library with about 150 books in English (and about 20 in French). If you plan to arrive late at night, you can ask us to buy some food for you (milk, eggs, ham, wine, etc.) and pay back for it at your arrival. We usually leave in the kitchen one or two bottles of our extra-virgin olive oil and some wine of the coop winery where we bring our grapes. Close to the house there are supermarkets that, at lest in the good season, are open on Sunday morning.Please, contact us either via e-mail or at the mobile phone number, since we are very seldom at home.
