Description
The former farm worker's house from 1865 was completely renovated and comfortably furnished by us between 2004 and 2009. There is no mistaking the slight Mediterranean touch. Light-flooded rooms and a certain openness to the outside world were important to us. The imposing arched door in the kitchen creates an open contact to the terrace
The cottage, which is about 80 square metres, offers a spacious, fully equipped, summery country kitchen with a large dining table for up to six people, a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove, a romantic bedroom with a Nordic-style double bed, a wild and colourful children's room for one or even two children, a stylish bathroom and a spacious attic room for two to three more people. The house has two gravel terraces with garden furniture and sunshades. A wild garden overgrown with ancient trees adjoins. Parking spaces for cars are also available
The charm of the house lies in the successful combination of old building fabric with modern room layout and cosy furnishings. We have been able to preserve the ancient wooden beams in the roof and living room and kitchen and many brick walls built with clay mortar. Nevertheless, the house has been thermally insulated according to the latest requirements. On cool evenings, the wood-burning stove provides cosy warmth for the whole house. Underfloor heating provides comfort from below if required. The furniture is tasteful and practical - children are welcome to let off steam. Basic bicycles and a holiday library are available. We provide well-kept bed linen and towels
This house can be used just as well alone or as a couple as with a family. Even with a full occupancy of 7 people, there is still room for individual retreat - reading, thinking, walking or simply sleeping in
On the grounds there are also 2 fully equipped construction trailers for 2 people each, and a safari tent for another 2 people, which can also be booked. There are 7 beds in the cottage, 2 beds in each of the construction trailers and 2 beds in the safari tent, so there is sleeping space for a total of 13 people.

Location and surroundings of object
On a bicycle trail quiet are there to the dike and the sea with many tourist facilities only a few minutes, the romantic fishing village Greetsiel with its restaurants, tea rooms, pubs, swimming pool, Spa and large playground with Playhouse just 10 to Emden, and 15 km. The Pilsum and the Campen Lighthouse is also not far. All supply and shopping can be found in the 4 km of distant Upleward, a village of the municipality of Krummhörn, lies near the North Sea coast (2 km) between Emden and Greetsiel. In Upleward there is a bath and a dry beach and a beautiful campsite with all necessary tourist facilities. In the village there is also a hotel with a restaurant and Cafe.

Zufahrt und Aussenbereich sehr vernachlässigt.
Erst das positive. Im großen und ganzen haben Wir relativ 4 schöne Tage im Haus verbracht. Die Sitzpolster im Wohnbereich haben ihre besten Tage bezüglich der Sitzqualität aber bereits lange hinter sich. Leider macht auch der "Gartenbereich" und die gesamte Umgebung ums Haus einen wirklich verwahrlosten Eindruck. Die relativ alten Fotos (6-7 Jahre geben den wirklichen Zustand des Grundstückes nicht im entferntesten wieder. Die positiven Bewertungen sind daher bereits 6-7 Jahre alt. Die sogenannten Parkplätze sind so zugewachsen das mein PKW (Normalgröße) einige Kratzspuren im Lack durch Sträucher und Äste zurück behalten hat. Wirklich ärgerlich. Einige Gartenarbeiten und man hätte wieder einen zauberhaften Wohn- und Umfeldbereich. Zudem war einer der Sonnenschirme so verrostet das er bei Kontakt sofort auseinander fiel. Die im Prospekt genannten Fahrräder waren nich fahrbereit bzw. Verkehrstauglich. Gartentisch- und Stühle benötigen dringend bezüglich des Grünspans einen Anstrich. Schade, im jetzigen Zustand ist das eigentlich schöne Feriendomizil nicht zumutbar, preislich überhöht und nicht zu empfehlen.

Charming cottage
We spent a lovely week here, the cottage is very idyllic and beautifully situated. The furnishings are a good mix of old and modern. A few minor things such as a broken parasol, too few glasses,... led to the deduction of one star for the furnishings. But that didn't bother us much, we felt very comfortable. We would like to come back.

Aus unserer Sicht nur bedingt zu empfehlen
Wir haben im Sommer 2018 mit insgesamt 7 Personen das Cottage inkl. 1 Bauwagen, der auf dem Grundstück steht, gebucht. Leider kam nach der Ankunft schnell die Ernüchterung. Dieses Haus ist definitiv nicht für so viele Leute ausgelegt, zumindest nicht wenn man sich mal in Ruhe zurück ziehen möchte. Die Schlafräume sind Durchgangsräume, die Wände dünn. Das 2. "Bett" im Kinderzimmer ist lediglich eine Matratze auf dem Boden. Das Bett im Schlafzimmer war kleiner als angegeben. Unter den Überwürfen auf den Sofas kamen zerschlissene Polster zum Vorschein. Es gab auch nicht genug Handtücher für alle Personen, geschweige denn welche zum wechseln. Draußen wirkte es leider wenig liebevoll. Scherben zwischen den Steinchen auf der Terrasse, teilweise kaputte Stühle.
Das größte Problem waren allerdings die Insekten im Haus, wir hatten viele Ameisen. Leider gab es keine Fliegengitter an den Fenstern, obwohl die Vermieter schon auf einem anderen Portal auf das Problem hingewiesen wurden und Abhilfe versprochen hatten. Dem war leider nicht so und bei Temperaturen über 30 Grad ist es schlecht, wenn man kaum die Fenster öffnen kann.
Der Bauwagen war grundsätzlich liebevoll gedacht, allerdings müsste man auch hier darauf hinweisen, dass selbst kleine Menschen kaum zur Toilette hinein kommen bzw. auf der Toilette Platz haben.
Wir waren insgesamt sehr enttäuscht, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt aus unserer Sicht überhaupt nicht.
Zumindest war das Wetter gut und wir konnten viel raus und uns die schöne Umgebung ansehen.

Glorious summer days in July
We spent two wonderful relaxing weeks with our children and the dog. The garden invites you to linger and the house is to fall in love with. Bicycles are available for excursions in the immediate vicinity, but a car is an advantage for more distant destinations.

1 week of relaxation with a winter surprise
1 week vacation in a very nicely equipped house. It is beautifully furnished and totally suited our taste. We felt very comfortable. The beautiful stove fulfilled its duty perfectly with plenty of wood. The equipment was simply perfect, nothing was missing.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Viele Möglichkeiten zum Spazierengehen. Hunde sind am Deich wegen der Schafe nicht erwünscht (obwohl keine Schafe da waren). Schade!
free time activities: Haben wir nicht genutzt.
shopping facilities: Alles in der Nähe, selbst bis nach Emden nur ein paar Kilometer gab es ein Einkaufszentrum, mit allen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.

erfolgreiche Karnevalsflucht :-)
Wir waren über Karneval für ein paar Tage in Upleward und haben die Ruhe und das wunderschöne Cottage sehr genossen. Das Cottage ist ur-gemütlich und bietet großen Comfort.

One week in Advent.
We (2 adults, a small wire-haired dachshund) were very satisfied. It was a nice week. Thanks to the fireplace, it is also comfortable to live here in winter (it is comfortably warm in the house).
We will come back, promised.

Autumn impressions 2012
We were just in the "Upleward Cottage" and were thrilled with the very old, rustic house that has been brought up to date today. Respect, Mr. Binder!!! It suits our taste exactly!! There were great days, unfortunately, as always, too short. Our special thanks also to the super nice neighbor Mrs. Lorey, who was there for us with tips and everything else! Thank you!

Relaxing autumn days in a rustic atmosphere.
My husband and I were at Upleward Cottage for 4 days at the end of September. We were warmly welcomed by the caretaker who lives next door and immediately felt at home in the quaint cottage. Here, old and new were really combined ideally - very successful and incredibly cozy. We didn't miss anything except for the rather small television (which my husband insists on having to watch football...). We went on beautiful bike rides along the dike with the bicycles provided, and on the slightly cool evenings, we had pure romance by the fireplace.

free time activities: Endlos Rad fahren, wandern oder Watt wandern. Im ein paar Kilometer entfernten Greetsiel Touristenrummel am Hafen, Wellness in der Oase, in Norddeich Seehundstation, Schiffsfahrten auf eine der vorgelagerten Inseln - eigentlich unzählige Freizeitmöglichkeiten
shopping facilities: im Nachbarort Pewsum Aldi, Lidl usw. - alles, was man braucht und schnell erreichbar

Wintereindrücke 2010
Wir hatten die Möglichkeit Weihnachten 2010 in einen gemütlichen alten Fehnhaus zu verbringen. Das Haus ist mit allen Dingen des täglichen Bedarfs ausgestattet. (es ist alles vorhanden!!!!)
Schöne Küche, gemütliche Stube liebevoll eingerichtet.

Sehr geschmackvoll und "urgemütlich"!
Das Ferienhaus "the Lodge" liegt in einem kleinen und liebevoll "gepflegtem" Dorf! Wir haben dort eine sehr schöne Woche verbracht. Das Haus ist einfach nur "urgemütlich" eingerichtet und es fehlt an nichts. Bei der Restaurierung wurde mit viel Liebe gearbeitet, altes erhalten und wundervoll integriert!!! Wir (zwei Erwachsene und zwei Hunde) haben wundervolle Spaziergänge unternommen und die kühlen Abende vor dem Kaminofen genossen!
Wir können "the Lodge" einfach nur weiter empfehlen!
