Come Get Wet! Quiet Kahili Beach (known locally as Rock Quarry Beach for a plantation-era quarry which existed at one of the headlands that form this broad, white sand, bay beach) is a scenic stroll or very quick drive from this private, newly renovated, comfortably furnished bluff-front beach home. Another half-dozen world class beaches are within 10 minutes drive.

Beautifully furnished and well-equipped, this is a great home for a couple, honeymooners, small family, or 2 couples traveling together. Tile kitchen and bathrooms, tropical cloth curtains and pillow covers, comfortable beds with 100% cotton sheets and pillow cases, lots of soft towels and washcloths. The master bedroom features a king bed, and the marble master bath has twin sinks. There is a fully equipped entertainment center and private, steamy, sunken hot tub spa. Star-gazing while soaking in the hot tub spa is a special treat!
Tour incredibly beautiful Kauai, including the Na Pali trail, Kilauea Lighthouse, Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach, Waimea Canyon, and more, or just stay at home & soak in the private outdoor 6-person sunken Kohler hot tub spa. The daytime view from the hot tub spa is awesome, and the starry nightime sky a sight to behold... Many guests remark that the views are like a painting (and a number of local artists have come to paint it!)- The Blue Pacific, The Kilauea River and river valley, lush, green Crater Hill National Wildlife Preserve, and a nearby tropical jungle waterfall. The generous covered lanai overlooks all these AND the 1.5 acre lushly landscaped property. Tropical fruits abound- bananas, limes, figs, starfruit, and coconuts.
Go jungle river cruising in the 4 person canoe for a great adventure. Paddles, lifejackets, and roof racks all included.
The home is aptly named- "Hale Kai Kalani" (House of the Heavenly Sea). It is private (we, the owners, are the nearest neighbors, over 6 acres away), yet conveniently located 1.5 miles outside of Kilauea Town, home of the Kilauea Lighthouse and Crater Hill National Wildlife Refuge, northernmost spot in the inhabited Hawaiian Islands!
Honeymooners, couples, small parties and families all love this house and property. We have many return guests who think of Hale Kai Kalani as "their vacation house" in Kauai. Come join those who have experienced Kauai living at its best, and enjoy this piece of heaven on earth.
So let's recap... ocean views, mountain views, private hot tub, acreage privacy, beach proximity, full kitchen, dishwasher, washer, dryer, and a comfortable, affordable home. Come for a honeymoon, a retreat, or for the vacation of a lifetime!
Testimonials:
"We had a fantastic time in this house and on the island of Kauai. we spent the 10 days of our honeymoon relaxing in this beautiful house and exploring the lovely island. I have to say, the photos of this house on the internet don't do it justice, and the big hot tub was a delight beyond words." Hope and Bill Lucas, Pennsylvania
"The house is great- so well organized it had everything we needed and more..." The Lachells, Wisconsin
"To say this place is great is an understatement. Expect several references from L.A. and Alaska in the near future. It's a great house in a great area of the island..." Chris Lewis, Hermosa Beach
"Thank you for the special hospitality you've shown by providing all those things, big and small, that make for a memorable visit, from the beautiful tropical flower bouquet, boogie boards, the canoe, the hot tub, beach towels, your wonderful "Welcome to Hale Kai Kalani" book- I could go on and on- we felt so welcome and just had a great time!" The Bowhay Family, California
"This pad rocked. We've had a great time here. Thanks for providing all the extra toys such as boogie boards, canoe, and home entertainment center. I suggest for anyone staying here that they take a surfing lesson right below at the beach. The sand bottom is safe, and the waves usually quite mellow. The thrill of catching my first wave is something I will never forget." Stuart Gill, Ontario
"Dear Bruce and Cyndee, Your lovely, perfect home will always hold a lifetime of wonderful memories for us"...Juanita and Monish Nanditer, and baby Anya
"My wife and I are very pleased that good fortune directed us to choose Hale Kai Kalani as our honeymoon destination. The sense of peace that is pervasive on Kaua'i seems to be magnified about this house; the amenities allowed us to feel at home; the natural surroundings are nothing short of spectacular, and the view- well, words cannot describe the view. We'll be back." The Devers, Denver, Colorado
(OWNER'S NOTE: The Devers returned for their second anniversery, had another incredible visit, and commented on a number of new improvements to the house.)
"SO superior to a stay at a condo or hotel..." The Swords, Alaska
"We're really going to miss having breakfast on the wonderful lanai. Sunrises and sunsets are nice to watch too. And the birds singing in the morning...glorious!" The Kongsles, Washington
Town and location of object

Hale Kai Kalani ("House of the Heavenly Sea") is located at 4230 Wailapa Road in Kilauea, about 1.3 miles in an easterly direction from the center of Kilauea town, and then about 1/4 mile north on Wailapa Road. The home is approximately 1 mile "as the crow flies" ESE of the Kilauea Kighthouse, which is found on most maps of Kauai, and is the northernmost point of the island.
The property all along the opposite side of Wailapa Road is a tropical fruit orchard. We live in the closest neighboring home to Hale Kai Kalani, about 1/4 mile distant.
Hale Kai Kalani is the closest home to Kahili Beach, better known as Rock Quarry Beach for a long abandoned plantation-era quarry at the west headland of this broad, white sand beach. The beach, like most, has many moods, but is generally excellent for swimming, sunbathing, boogie-boarding, surfing, and beach-combing. One can surfcast for fish, or enjoy the calm waters of the lagoon, formed where the Kilauea Stream meets the ocean.
Kahili-Quarry beach is accessed by foot (10 to 15 minutes walk) or automobile (4-5 minutes drive) via a dirt beach access track down through the undeveloped river valley, which leaves Wailapa Road from nearby the house. There are 6 other world-class beaches within 10 minutes drive from the house, and another 6 within 15 minutes drive time! We are truly blessed with the most beautiful collection of uncrowded beaches within a short area in all the world!
Wailapa Stream flows about 100 yards NW of the property, and drops until it joins the Kilauea Stream (looks more like river than a stream, but rarely flows heavily). As previously mentioned, that stream enters the ocean at the west end of the beach, and forms a delightful lagoon there.
Looking out from the view lanai, one sees the ocean, the river, the river valley, and Crater Hill National Wildlife Refuge. The Kilauea Lighthouse (northernmost point on Kauai, and in the inhabited Hawaiian Islands) lies just on the other side of Crater Hill.
Hale Kai Kalani is 45 minutes drive from the airport in Lihue, 20-25 minutes from the Kapaa/Wailua area, 5 minutes from Kilauea Town, 10 minutes from Princeville, and 15 minutes from Hanalei. All in all, a very convenient location, centrally located on Kauai's magnificent North Shore, and within easy striking distance of the rest of the island.
