Forty kilometres of coast in the wildest part of Sardinia, sheer cliffs dotted with coves and beaches that are the real jewels of the Mediterranean. One of the last natural paradises, where faunistic species such as, the Corsican seagull, the peregrine falcon, and the crested cormorant nest and live in harmony with the environment, a land that is jealously guarded by the custodians of the territory, the local shepherds whose flocks of goats graze free amid the mountains.
Excursions aboard small motor boats for groups of approx 12 people.Discover the charm of the Orosei coast, explore the creeks and coves on your pleasant outing, pausing along the way to swim in the most beautiful crystal-clear sea of the Mediterranean. See the Ogliastra islets, Pedra Longa, the water springs of Baus, the cave of the doves, the inlets of Porto Pedrosu and Portu Cuau (on the bottom of the latter is the wreck of the cargo boat Levante, which sank in the 1960s). During our mini-cruise we can stop at the splendid beaches of Cala Goloritzé, the Sorgenti beach, the Gabbiano beach and the beaches of Cala Mariolu and Cala Biriola.
In addition we can visit the spectacular “Fico” cave, where the monk seal was last seen.
Get to know the traditions and customs of an archaic world that still exists amid the impervious mountains of Baunei. The excursion crosses the Golgo plateau to visit the famous chasm (natural monument), with its 270 m sheer drop, it is the deepest in Europe, the renowned Nuragic pools, the nuraghe of Co’e Serra and St. Peter’s church, built in 1600s, with an anthropomorphic betyl at the entrance. We have lunch and then we start our 1 hr 30 min trek to the splendid beach of Cala Goloritzé, after a lovely, relaxing swim we return to Santa Maria Navarrese by boat.
Tourism in Sardinia is a relatively new phenomenon and until recent times there was little choice but to stay in modest inns or private houses, especially away from the largest towns and a handful of old, well-known seaside resorts. Today the quality of Sardinian tourist accommodation has reached the same high standards found in the rest of Italy (thanks in part to important events such as the establishment of a Sardinian tourist board in 1952, and changes in regional laws starting in the 1960s which incentivized investment from individuals and large companies). The coastal areas are not the only places driving the growth of tourism in Sardinia, with many areas once exclusively used for farming and grazing now offering fantastic holiday accommodation, such as Fonni and Oliena. The number of different holiday possibilities is countless, stretching from your traditional hotel, to simpler, often more rural options like bed and breakfasts or agritourism farmhouses.
Another possibility for those who want to immerse themselves in the mediterranean scrub and breathtaking landscapes of the Sardinian countryside is the campsite, particularly recommended to lovers of walking. A fantastic alternative to hotels or resorts is the self-catering holiday home, many of which have swimming pools and/or are right by the sea. If you are looking for a beach holiday you will soon notice the different characters of the various coastal areas. The Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda) and the famous seaside towns near Olbia (including Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo) are very popular among the rich and famous, and whilst their 'exclusiveness' is questionable, they ooze style and sophistication.
In contrast areas such as Santa Margherita di Pula, Porto Conte, Baia Sardinia and Villasimius are popular destinations for package holidays, whereas areas like Alghero, Santa Teresa di Gallura, La Maddalena, San Teodoro, Cala Gonone, Golfo Aranci and Muravera are popular among more traditional, independent tourists. In addition to these well known destinations there are many minor coastal towns and villages where you can find great accommodation at very good prices, especially in agritourism farmhouses, bed and breakfasts, and hotels, the rising stars of Sardinian tourism. The early days when Sardinian hotels were known for their lack of professionalism, offset only by the beauty of the island and the friendliness of the islanders, have long since passed, even in the lesser known places. Despite the growth of tourism in Sardinia the countryside retains its wild, uncontaminated beauty, and visitors always enjoy a completely authentic experience, never a manufactured one.
Loceri , Ogliastra , Sardegna , Italy
On the Ogliastra hills, at 200m of altitude, surrounded by lush olive groves and vineyards, lies the charming village of Loceri. The territory has a wealth of archaeological remains of several periods. The domus de janas, Sa Mardona and the nuraghi of Nuraxi and of Cea can be visited and also the giants’ tombs at Cea.
It is well worth climbing up the hill that overlooks the village to visit the nuragh Serra Uleri .From its summit that dominates the valley one can enjoy the splendid view. A visit to the Domus de Janas in the Serra Paulis area, also called Pirarba, is fascinating. The way there is up a path along which one can admire the typical lush vegetation of Loceri.Very typical are the country churches of San Bachisio, in the popular Baroque style, dating back to the 17th century near the soccer field, and the Sacro Cuore next to the park named after the church itself, on the road from Pelau to Lanusei, direction Taccus.
Domus Vacca is only with your own car to reach. Distance from Lanusei is 4 km. and Loceri also 4 km
In this house you will find all the needed rest and privacy. Domus Vacca is located 15 km from the beautiful beaches of Lido di Cea. With the car in a quarter of an hour to reach.
In ancient Etruria the Luceri peoples were famous at the time of the foundation of Rome. The name would, accordingly, suggest an early Etruscan settlement. The first settlements might have been located at Ager or Domus or Villa Luceri, meaning Locerio’s land or house or villa. Before its attested destruction around 1316, the village may have spread to the other side of the Mesu river, not unlike its new dwellings are attempting to do today. Before its destruction Loceri belonged to the Judicature of Cagliari, to Piedmont, to the Spanish and finally to Italy.
We will take you on an unforgettable trip to see: the cave of the doves, the inlets of Portu Pedrosu, Portu Cuau and the beaches of Cala Goloritzé, Punta Ispuligi de nie (Cala dei gabbiani and Cala Mariolu), to the discovery of undersea siphons inside the “Fico” cave, where the monk seal was last seen. We will sail to the extreme tip of North Ogliastra to the splendid beaches of Cala Sisine, Cala Luna and the "Bue Marino Cave"
