Our cozy house has sheltered two centuries of family life since 1805, and now it is ready for yours. It sits narrow end to the street, which provides more privacy and a better view of the garden. The garden and home are sheltered by neighboring houses, making it the quietest place on the street. The yard is bordered by a white picket fence and flower garden and is safe for dogs and children. The back yard is a pleasant place to unwind, and is furnished with table and chairs for dining “en pleine aire”. There is a swing and climbing structure for young children. Stepping through the gate, you may walk in two minutes to the center of town, filled with restaurants and shops.

The house sits on a short one way street just one block from Route 1A, the road that leads to Logan airport and Boston. In the other direction, route 114 leads to the north-south interstate 95 that runs between New York City, 4 hours south, and Maine, 1 hour north.

Although we have a rich maritime history and a vibrant waterfront, many are seeking our local attractions that explain the witch hysteria of 1692. Between the Witch Dungeon museum and the Ghost Tours, you can become acquainted with the spooky and pagan side of Salem. The Peabody Essex Museum is a world-class repository of art and culture, which exhibits numerous historic houses in addition to paintings, handcrafts and maritime artifacts. Tour the House of Seven Gables, the centerpiece of American author Nathaniel Hawthorne’s romance mystery novel. The North Shore of Boston has a large number of artists, most notably in Rockport, accessible by train or auto. The North Shore Music Theatre has Broadway- bound productions, and the world’s longest running magic show, Le Grand David, plays every weekend in the neighboring town of Beverly. Salem is a comfortable 1/2hour train ride north of Boston, and is the perfect home base for a day trip to the city. You can ride our ferry to Boston as well. We are in a beautiful coastal area of New England that offers easy access to Maine and New Hampshire, one-hour north. There is more to see and do here than you can fit into a week’s stay, and you will never be bored!
