The bay of Soline (or the bay of Klimno as some call it) is placed in the eastern part of the island of Krk. Three places are situated in the bay: Klimno, Soline and Čižići. In all three places lives about 300 inhabitants. The first place mentioned in the bay of Solne is Soline (1230.), then Klimno (1381.). In Roman times there was a salt-works (that is how Soline is named), until in the times of Francopans Venice has forbidden the work of the salt-works. The cove offers a little beaches you can walk afoot, and also a bigger beach in Meline.At the exit from the bay of Soline or at the road that leads from Čižići to Rudine (Cave) took place a shell cultute. In XVI century the first time were mentioned the oysters from the bay of Soline and they are well reputed. The bay of Soline is declared the most suitable localty for shell culture in the eastern part of the Adriatic. You can come there by water if you have a boat or with a car - on by a macadam road.Lively Soline inlet, native country of pre-Romanic saltworks, oasis of peace, beauty and health, edged by "live" postcards: Klimno (wet and dry marina, a motor camp, rich gastronomic offer), Soline and Čižići (clean and warm sea, therapeutic mud for treatment of arthritis); stony antique Rudine (with cave Biserujka which is particularly attractive to tourists).
