Galeş is situated a convenient short drive from amazing medieval Sibiu, the 2007 European Capital of Culture. Well-placed for visiting Saxon Transylvania (including Brasov, Biertan, Cluj, etc) and next to the Carpathian mountains, ideal for skiing in Winter and hiking in Summer.

Galeş is an intriguing Romanian village which has maintained age-old traditions. There is a museum of rural life, a working water mill and a traditional hat-maker (we can arange complimentary visits, please ask). The village is on the edge of mountain pastures, with cows, horses and goats passing by the house every day on the way to and from pasture.

The normal chageover day is Saturday or Monday, but we are flexible about this, depending on demand. Please ask us if you wish to change the start day. Blue Air flies from London-Luton to Sibiu ,and flights from several German and European airports arrive in Sibiu. Wizzair flies from Budapest to Targu Mures, which is approximately 70km from Galeş. Sibiu airport is 10km from Galeş. Car rental is possible. Regrettably, the house is not suitable for wheelchair users and there is no central heating.
