The sound of tinkling water from the rose petal strewn marble fountain greets visitors as they step across the threshold into this oasis of calm. Situated in a prime location within the medina, close to shops and restaurants and only a short stroll away from the beach, this house has been lovingly designed to create an attractive and welcoming environment. At ground floor level is a generous open plan salon/reading room with books and ipod dock, a tea kitchen and a WC. On the first floor you will find a master suite consisting of a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and small dressing room/nursery, a further double bedroom with ensuite shower room and a twin room with ensuite facilities.There is also another separate WC. Another flight of stairs leads you to the property's first roof terrace which is walled and completely private. It is overlooked only by a light and airy salon which boasts a fire place, satellite TV,a DVD player and a cosy dining area. Next door to this is the fully equipped kitchen. There is also a separate laundry room with washing machine, an outdoor shower to cool off under and a table and chairs for al fresco eating. A second roof terrace is dedicated to sunbathing. From here you can see not only the roof tops of Essaouira but also the sea!

Essaouira can be reached by a straight road from Marrakech and by a scenic coastal road from Agadir. By car or Grand Taxi this journey takes around 2 hours and costs approx. Euros 70 one way. There is a bus terminal and an International airport with weekly flights from Paris directly to Essaouira. Dar Qawi is very well situated within one of the nicest parts of the medina. Restaurants, cafes and shops are within a few steps and the beach is also within easy walking distance.

Essaouira is a very picturesque little fishing town on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, just over two hours drive from Marrakech or Agadir. It has in turn been a Portuguese colony called Mogador, an important trading link between Timbuktu and Europe and a French protectorate. In the 1960s, it was 'discovered' by Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and other musicians, artists and hippies who all succumbed to its charm. Nowadays this pretty little entirely white and blue town it is popular with chic French families, Brits, Germans, Scandinavians and Italians with a smattering of Americans who own houses there and who enjoy the laid back vibe, the mild weather and the friendly ambience. English people often describe it as an Arabic version of Rock in Cornwall whilst the French insist that it is like an African St.Tropez 50 years ago!

Additional Information

The house can comfortably accommodate up to 6 adults plus one child. Small children, however, will need supervision as the property is not child-proofed. The many stairs make it unsuitable for anyone, young or old, unsteady on their legs. A delicious freshly made breakfast is included in the rate.
