The house of the Light" is located on a wonderful spot at the edge of the village of Bubión. Bubion is a picturesque Moorish village, situated in the National Park of Sierra Nevada with the highest mountains in Spain, Mulhacen at 3482m and Veleta at 3362m. If you like walking, nature and tranquility: you can find exactly what you are looking for here. It’s 70 km from Granada and 40 km from the coast. The house is built in typical Alpujarreñan style, with flat roofs and ceilings with wooden beams. It is stylishly decorated with a mixture of antique and modern furniture. From both the living room and the spacious terrace of Casa de la Luz you have a marvellous view onto the Poqueira Valley. When the weather is very clear you even can admire the sight of the Mediterranean sea and the mountains of Africa. The house has a central heating system and an open fireplace. There are two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with bath tub, a spacious living room with a beautiful terrace (over 25m2) facing south-west. Sometimes sheep will be grazing on the field in front of the house. The owners speak English, French, German as well as Dutch.

The national park of Sierra Nevada with the highest mountains of Spain (Mulhacen 3482 m and Veleta 3392 M) are very rich in animal life and plants. There are over 80 species of endemic plants, lots of ibex and even some imperial eagles to be seen. Also you can visit from here Granada and the Alhambra or the Mediterranean Sea(Salobreña, Motril and Almeñecar) within an hours driving distance

In the Poqueira ravine, at the feet of mountain Mulhacén (3500m) there are three white villages Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira. These are the most wonderful villages of the Alpujarras, ‘the grass land”as this southslopes of the Sierra Nevada are called. The Moors cultivated and irrigated the land. All the houses have the same construction: white houses with flat roofs, tipical round chimneys, chestnut wood for windows and doors. Some of these houses are 600 years old. In the surroundings you find oak-, chestnut- and cherrytrees. The village of Bubión Bubión is the village in the middle, and is situated at 1300 m above sea-level. With very clear weather you can see the Mediterrenean see and the Atlas of Marroco. Wandering through the small streets of Bubión you will find fountains which get their water straight ftom the Sierra Nevada. You can visit the museum of Popular Arts “La Casa Alpujarreña”, some weaving ateliers or the church, dating from the 16th century. If you get hungry from walking around, you can choose from the various restaurants. At one of them you can eat below the cherry trees. Activities In the surroundings of Bubión you can make some very fine excursions. The GR-7, the walking-route from Athens till Algeciras is very famous. Also you can do horseriding, climb mountains, fishing and take guitar lessons. Also you can enjoy flamenco or Moorish tea-sessions.
