Itacimirim means "Little Ant" in the native Indian language and is situated on the beach along the coconuts coast 30 miles north of Salvador. Here you will find a mixture of local fishermen and visitors from all over the world. Itacimirim became famous worldwide when Amir Klink, the notorious Brazilian navigator, dropped anchor in 1984 after crossing the Atlantic Ocean alone in a small rowing boat. Itacimirim has beautiful beaches ideal for walking, surfing and swimming. On the beach you will find some beach bars specializing in fish and seafood. Besides the beach Itacimirim has a beautiful lagoon and the reserve Sapiranga with some original Atlantic jungle and mangroves.
