Alpine Meadows is a spacious, self-contained ground floor apartment, with 3 bedrooms and able to accommodate parties of 2-10 people (+ 1 infant). The interior is typical of an alpine chalet style property with many rooms featuring pine cladding and wooden floors. There is double glazing and central heating throughout.
The living accommodation comprises large entrance lobby with plenty of storage for outdoor coats & shoes etc ( ski equipment, bikes etc can be stored in cellar ).
Living Area
Off the hallway is the main living room with a leather sofa, easy chair and two single sofabeds. There is satellite TV and DVD player, as well as a selection of books and games for all ages. Access through to.
Kitchen Diner
There is a large dining table and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and lots of storage space.
Bedroom 1
A pine clad room that is furnished with a double bed, bed side tables and a built in wardrobe.
Bedroom 2
Is furnished with adult size bunk beds, bed side tables and a wardrobe.
Bedroom 3
Consists of two rooms furnished with a double bed and a comfortable 'double bed' sofa, bed side tables, a chest of draws and hanging rail.

The bathroom is large, bright and fully tiled with bath, integral shower and hand basin. Towels Provided.

WHAT TO DO IN SUMMER
Summertime in the Salzkammergut is amazing. Blue skies, crystal clear warm lakes, mountains shrouded in vibrant green forests and of course the beautiful alpine meadows bejewelled with wildflowers. The possibilities for the perfect holiday are endless, whether you are an outdoor adventurer, a culture-vulture or simply wanting to relax and unwind.
A small selection of the many activities available and places to visit are shown below, but please ask us if you have a particular interest and we will do our best to help you.
Walking
Alpine Meadows is the ideal base for a walking holiday in the Salzkammergut, There are many excellent scenic walks of varying lengths within and around Bad Ischl, which are well signposted, Alpine meadows lies directly on one 10km circular route, so you can literally start on your doorstep.
Mountain biking
There are lots of well marked mountain bike trails locally ranging from easy to very demanding. It is possible to hire mountain bikes locally. If you would like us to enquire about this for you please ask.
Swimming
There is a super outdoor swim- park in the Centre of
Bad Ischl and the Eurothermen Resort thermal baths are a "must-do" part of any holiday in Bad Ischl. Completely refurbished in 2007 the thermal baths offer swimming, a spa pool heated to 33 degrees centigrade, saunas, steam baths and a wide range of therapies to help you relax and unwind. If you enjoy swimming in the great outdoors, there are many lakes nearby which have sunbathing and swimming beaches, many of which are free to use and other which charge a small entrance fee.
Alpine Ambling
If a more gentle approach to walking is your style, there are lots of walks we can recommend that can be covered with relative ease, with possible stops at local "hütten" or cafes to enjoy one of the refreshing local beers, a lunch or Kaffee and Kuchen, while taking in the amazing views. A recent guest gave this the name "Alpine ambling" and we liked the idea so much we decided to adopt it!
Watersports
There is a wide range of water sports on offer within easy driving distance of Alpine Meadows. Lakes Wolfgangsee and Traunsee for example have boat hire, wake boarding, water skiing, scuba diving etc available
Cruises
If you prefer more gentle water-borne pursuits then why not have a gentle cruise on Wolfgangsee. You can travel from village to village around the lake.
Golf
One of Austria's oldest and most famous golf clubs is in Bad Ischl as is the famous Franz Laimer Golf Academy which compliments the many other golf courses in the Salzkammergut.
High fliers
Paragliding and hot -air ballooning are available within twenty minutes drive of Alpine-Meadows
Outdoor Adventure
If more adventurous pursuits are your thing and you would like to try your hand at canyonning, rock climbing, abseiling or canoeing there is a centre just fifteen minutes drive from Alpine Meadows.
Places to Visit
Salzwelten (Salt-world)
A fascinating visit to an ancient but still working salt-mine at Hallstatt, about 30 minutes drive from Alpine Meadows. Well worth a visit if only for the view from the entrance to the Saltmine.
Alpine Meadows is only 2.25 km from the centre of Bad Ischl and the Eurotherme spa.
Summer Tobogganing
Great fun for all the family and only a 15 minute drive from Alpine Meadows, the Sommer Rodelbahn is ideal as part of a family day out, perhaps combined with a visit to the animal park or a visit to Lake Wolfgangsee.
Dorf der Tier
Literally Animal Village is situated just the other side of Gschwendt on the way to St Gilgen approximately 15 minutes drive away by car.
Salzburg
Alpine Meadows is an ideal base for a history holiday B.C. to present day it is all only a short drive away.
No visit to the Salzkammergut is complete without a visit to this historic city. Famous as Mozart's birthplace, it has lots to offer, whether you are a culture vulture, seeking art galleries, concerts or museums, or are like many people, following the "Sound of Music" trail and would like to see some of the locations from the film, Salzburg is just spellbinding! Fabulous buildings, open-air music and cafés that serve delicious coffee and cakes. Shopping in Salzburg is excellent, a visit to the famous Getreidegasse,
Alpine Meadows to Salzburg city centre is about an hours drive, with its quaint shop signs that hang over the narrow street is essential for avid shoppers, seeking designer labels, fabulous jewellery or simply window shopping. There is a market most days selling seasonal produce and souvenirs. The famous Salzburg Music Festival takes place during the summer.
Bad Ischl
If you would like a guided tour around this historic town, why not take a horse drawn carriage ride to see the sights.
Throughout the summer all the local shops, restaurants and bars are open and there are a profusion of pavement cafés where you can sit and take in the scenery or simply people watch. The world famous confectioner and coffee house Zauner,where superb cakes and fabulous house-made chocolates can be sampled, is an essential part of any visit to Bad Ischl and in Summer they have a super riverside café on Bad Ischl's stylish Esplanade.
Evenings in Bad Ischl are ideal if you want to eat out particularly in summer when several restaurants have 'al fresco' tables. There are quite a number of bars with some offering live entertainment particularly at the weekends.

Another not-to-be-missed attraction is a visit the Kaiser Villa, the holiday home of Kaiser Franz Joseph I, perched on the banks of the River Ischl. It is said that Franz Joseph brought his court to Bad Ischl in order to benefit from the health giving properties of the waters here.
Wolfgangsee
This world famous lake, set in glorious, spectacular scenery makes an ideal day out for the whole family. Whether you want to swim, hire a boat, take a gentle cruise from village to village, cycle, go up a mountain by cable car, train or foot or simply enjoy hunting for souvenirs in the many fascinating shops in St Gigen, St Wolfgang or Strobl and stop for lunch or coffee and cakes in one of the many hotels and cafes.
Russbach
Part of the Dachstein west area and a short drive from Alpine Meadows, Russbach is an ideal place for all the family to visit on a warm summer's day offer in the chance to walk in the mountains, hunt for fossils, have fun at the water park and many other attractions.
Festivals
Throughout the summer there is a succession of festivals in Bad Ischl and in the surrounding area. For Example, the Lehar Festival, the Kaiser-Bummel, our personal favourite, when a red carpet runs around the whole town and everyone gets to be a "Kaiser" for the day there are street entertainers, traditional food and beer in abundance and at night there are fireworks and a real carnival atmosphere.
The Wine Festival is held each year in June where you can enjoy glasses of cool white wine and smooth red wine in the relaxed atmosphere of the Kurpark.
Last but certainly not least the village of St Wolfgang holds fortnightly festivals in July and August called 'Summer Nights' which are truly unmissable. Street music, activities for the children, a street market, pavement bars and restaurants combine to create a real party atmosphere.
WHAT TO DO IN WINTER
Russbach is just beyond Gosau and is ideal for families. It features two super children's areas called "Bear Camp" and "Sparrows Nest." where qualified staff supervise the fun while parents can enjoy skiing.
Attractions at Bear Camp include a magic carpet, bear slalom, snow castle and nursery lift. Skiing is free of charge for children under 6. Russbach also has a ski-school
Sparrow's Nest is an indoor supervised play area for children from 1 year upwards. Drinks and lunch are available.
Krippenstein Dachstein Freesports Arena
There really is something for everyone here: Ski schools to off piste skiing with Freerider Guides. If you are a skier or boarder who is in to freestyle then this could be the place for you or may be you like just a little bit more excitement with your skiing or boarding than just gliding gracefully down hill if that's the case then Krippenstein could be the ideal place for you.
Postalm
Again a short drive from Bad Ischl. A ski-bus runs from the centre of Bad Ischl. Postalm is popular with local skiers. It is ideal for the whole family and has 20km of mainly easy to intermediate runs as well as a "fun-arena". There is a chair-lift and 6 draglifts as well as cross-country tracks, a toboggan run, an ice-rink and an alpine curling alley. Ideal for a day-trip incorporating a visit to the famous Wolfgangsee lake and the villages of Strobl, St Wolgang and St Gilgen.
Postalm Arena winter sports for everyone is 20 minutes from Alpine Meadows
Gaissau is part of the Hintersee ski area. It is a little further away but still only about 40mins drive. Gaissau has 20 km of pistes, 3 chair lifts and 6 draglifts. Although fairly small, this is a very family-friendly resort, with ski-hire and ski-schools and slopes to suit beginners and experts alike. Gaissau makes an excellent day out as there are also extensive cross-country tracks nearby, ski-tubing in the village of Faistenau and a good selection of "Hütten" and guesthouse to enjoy an après-ski ,snack or supper. And if you want to go a little further afield the pistes at Abtenau, Loser-Altaussee, Feuerkogel and Tauplitz are all within an hour's drive.
Cross-Country Skiing
The Salzkammergut is a popular area for cross-country skiing with many kilometres of tracks available through spectacular scenery, just a short drive from Alpine Meadows. In the immediate area of Bad Ischl there are cross-country tracks on the Rettenbachalm and close to Pfandl. There are also trails around Lake Wolfgangsee, Langbathsee, Bad Goisern and Gosau. A little further afield, the village of Faistenau has excellent cross-country trails and makes a really good day out.
If skiing isn't your sport
Winter in the Salzkammergut is a magical time with plenty to see and do, even if skiing is not your sport!
Tobogganing and Snow Tubing
There are several toboggan runs near to Alpine Meadows. The closest is at Bad Goisern, which is just ten minutes drive away. It is possible to hire a toboggan. Snow tubing really is great fun for kids of all ages. Absolutely no skill required just the ability to sit in a large rubber air filled ring and slide down a snowy mountainside.

Walking
Snow-walking in the mountains is becoming increasingly popular. Most of the ski-lifts offer a "one up or down" ticket at a greatly reduced price, so you can enjoy the spectacular views while walking or just sitting at one of the many typical Austrian" Hütten" where you can enjoy a wide selection of drinks and home-cooked food.

Bad Ischl
If you would like a guided tour around the this historic town, why not take a horse drawn sleigh ride to see the sights including the Glockenspiel Clock in Kreutzplatz and listen to its beautiful chimes.
Throughout the winter
All the local shops, restaurants and bars are open. The world famous confectioner and coffee house Zauner where superb cakes and fabulous house-made chocolates can be sampled is an essential part of any visit to Bad Ischl. Apres ski in Bad Ischl is "low-key", ideal for those who prefer a quiet meal although there are some music bars for people who prefer a livelier time. We are happy to make reservations for you and arrange taxi transport if you wish.
Ice-rinks
There is a small ice rink principally for children in the centre of Bad Ischl at Christmas time and a larger permanent ice rink for all age groups on the edge of town near the Katrinalm.
Advent & Christmas Markets
From the end of November until New Year there are Advent markets held at many local villages. St Wolfgang, St Gilgen and Strobl, which are all within a short drive of Bad Ischl have lovely markets at weekends. One of the most memorable holiday experiences for many guests is strolling among the candle-lit streets with seasonal music playing or choirs singing, while looking for Christmas gifts and traditional Austrian foods from beautifully decorated stalls and enjoying a mug of warming gluhwein or eating hot roasted chestnuts. A giant candle floats on Wolfgangsee during Advent and Christmas and you can take a romantic moonlight cruise around the lake to complete your special day out.
