Communication with Mr. Dreher was very friendly and uncomplicated.
It is a very nice holiday apartment very close to the Baltic Sea. We lacked nothing. Everything was perfect. A dream vacation ⚓ One can safely leave the car in the underground garage; everything is easily accessible on foot.
Thank you, Mr. Dreher, we would love to come back.

The Baltic Sea beach in Baabe is not overcrowded even during the peak holiday season. Alongside beach chair rentals, activities such as kite surfing, surfing, or sailing are offered on the fine sandy beach. At the northern exit of the town runs the Mönchgraben, the remains of a medieval earthwork. On the eastern shore of Lake Sellin lies the legendary Knight's Stone. The Moritzdorf Ferry transports up to 15 people in a wooden rowboat across the Baaber Bek, making it one of the smallest ferries in Germany. The Bek connects the community of Sellin with the eastern Baaber Bollwerk. The Baabe Village Church resembles an upturned boat. A sight to behold alongside the beautiful lagoon landscape are the thatched-roof houses. The craft of thatching has been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2014.

Experience Baabe and Its Surroundings

Those who arrive at the beach in the early morning hours can watch the fishermen at their daily work. Along Sandstraße, many vacation apartments, hotels, and shops have emerged over the years. Here, there are also berths for sports boats - plus two piers for passenger ships. In Baabe, there is a Cabaret Theater, the "Laughing Seagull". Various cabarets take place here year-round. The Störtebeker Festival, held since 1993 from late June to early September in Ralswiek, is also popular. The festival and its individual events constitute Germany's most successful open-air theater.

What can you experience in Baabe with children?

Family Fun in the Baltic Resort

Karls Adventure Village in Zirkow on Rügen is a rural amusement park. In show-manufactories, jam is cooked, candies are twisted, and wood-fired bread is baked following old traditions. There's action on the slide and climbing tower, the tire slide, or the potato sack slide. In summer, kids can cool off with the water bomb launcher. There's even a petting zoo and a children's farm. Admission prices are 12€ for both adults and children (as of August 2023). The Baltic resort is also very family-friendly. Next to the Guest House is a playground where you can play bocce or mini-golf. Regular events for children are also held there - such as the annual Puppet Theater. The local train "Uns Lütt Bahn" runs through the town. A ride on the Racing Roland is also worthwhile.

Where can I eat out in Baabe?

Plenty of Fish with Tradition

From March to May, the Herring Weeks take place on Rügen and Hiddensee. Herring is steamed, smoked, or fried in restaurants. In May, the Garfish Days follow. At the Seeblick Restaurant, you can enjoy regional specialties with a magnificent view of Lake Neuensiener. However, it's not just fish on the menus in the region. In Ostseebad Binz, there is upscale Central European cuisine.

What is a must-see in Baabe?

Art, Museums, and Festivals

In Middelhagen, around the village school built in 1825, stands today the School Museum. It is open from May to October: • Tu-Su: 11 AM-5 PM • Tu & We: 10 AM, 11:30 AM (school lessons) The Mönchgut Coastal Fishermen Museum displays the tools of fishermen. Exhibits include the motorboat "Ossi". The museum also features motor trap boats, herring sorting machines, and information panels on boat building and fishing. The museum is open year-round from 9 AM-8 PM. (As of August 2023) Next door in the Baltic resort of Sellin, is the Amber Museum. A master goldsmith has set up the museum next to an amber specialty store with a workshop. Admission is 5€ for adults and 2€ for children up to 12 years. The opening hours (as of August 2023) are: • Tu & Fr: 11 AM-1 PM, 2 PM-4 PM The Galerie Hartwich in Sellin is a recognized artists' meeting place. Here, Knut Hartwich exhibits contemporary art of various genres.
