The morcone bay is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the island. Surrounded by pine trees and the perfume of the macchia vegetation you can enjoy the view over the cristal clear water of the Morcone bay and the splendid sunsets. The 270m-long beach falls gently into the sea, ideal and safe for families with children. Two restaurants and a beach bar are open from april to october. On the beach you can rent sun umbrellas and deckchairs. In the small minimarket nearby, you can find all the things for a yummy breakfast or a bottle of wine for the evening. The area offers numerous opportunities for sporting activities. There are two diving center, a boat rental for small motorboats, canoes and surfer stuff. The bay is also starting point for short or extensive biking. During the summer a mini-bus service connects the Morcone beach with Capoliveri from early morning until midnight.

The tuscan island Elba lies only 10 kilometres from the coastal town of Piombino at the mainland of Italy. It is the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago, located between the Tyrrhenian Sea and Ligurian Sea, and is the third largest island in Italy after Sicily and Sardinia. Elba and the other islands of the Tuscan Archipelago Pianosa, Capraia, Montecristo, Gorgona, Giglio and Giannutri are part of the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago. The French island of Corsica lies about 50 kilometres to the west. In Italian it is called Isola d'Elba. With a coastline of only 147km an area of 224 km2 the island offers a variety of landscapes like romantic fishermen´s and mountain villages, ancient castles, green valleys, charming bays and wonderful sandy and peeble beaches. The island is divided into eight municipalities, of which Portoferraio is the main one, the others; Campo nell`Elba, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro and Rio nell`Elba are part of the province of Livorno, for a total of about 30.000 inhabitants.The climate of the Island is predominantly Mediterranean. The average temperature amounts 20 degrees. In summer between 30 degrees maximum and 13 degrees minimum. In wintertimes the temperature seldom falls under 10 degrees. Precipitation is concentrated in autumn and comprises of a normal rainfall.The spring begins in early March. In April the scrub is covered by colorful flowers inviting for hiking, biking and riding. The appropriate time for swimming is from the middle of May until the middle of October. In August the water temperatur averages 27 degrees.
