Between nature and culture In the Agriturismo Agriart by the artist Fernando and his wife, you can enjoy your holidays in a Mediterranean environment. The Agriturismo is located in Spigno Saturnia in the nature reserve of the Aurunci Mountains, just a few minutes to the sea by car. The rooms inside the house are very loving and with handmade design of Fernando: painted windows, mosaics, sculptures, pictures and paintings. The Agriturismo Agriart, surrounded by green hills, is located on a slope of the Aurunci Mountains, with a scenic view over the Gulf of Gaeta. The Agriturismo has double rooms, rooms with three beds and a holiday apartment for four persons. The holiday apartment has two sleeping rooms, a well-furnished kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and a washing machine, further a veranda with an overwhelming scenic view over the sea. You can book self-catering, bed and breakfast (with a rich breakfast) and half-or full board. The food is organic, 99% of them is self-cultivated. For breakfast, you can have home- made cakes and jams, seasonal fruit or dried fruit, yoghurt, orange juice and Italian coffee. The vegetables, the fruits, the olive oil and the olives, the eggs, the meat and the wine are all self- produced. For lunch and for dinner you can get delicious local specialities. Enjoy your meal! From the Agriturismo, you can enjoy on walking tours through the nature reserve, drive to one of the beaches nearby, visit the numerous archaeological excavations in the immediate vicinity, going to the thermos in Suio or just relaxing in the south Mediterranean sun. Of course, you can take part in the Agriturismo, e.g. the olive- harvest, in the garden, picking the fruit… Further, the Agriturismo is offering various courses and activities all year. For families with children, the holiday in the Agriturismo is an experience as well. There are goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, pheasants, gooses, ducks, cats and dogs.

Guided walking tours (throughout the year): The Aurunci Mountains surrounds with a gigantic mountain range the Gulf of Gaeta. The nature reserve (Parco Naturale dei Monti Aurunci) is excellent for long walking tours. From there you have a panoramic view from the Vesuv to the Circeo; in the distance, you can see the sea with the islands and the Abruzzo. There is a particular magic because of the closeness to the sea. Sea-faced rocks´ are shaped by the rough sea winds and the rocks are overgrown with broom, mastic trees, myrtle, sage and heather. The northern slopes are overgrown with luxurious vegetation: oak forests, grove- and copper beeches. Important is also the occurrence from about 50 different kind of wild orchid. Fernando likes to take you for a walk through these gorgeous mountains and show you the beauty of the nature. The costs per person are one person 25 Euro, 2 persons 20 Euro, 3-6 persons 15 Euro. Cooking from genuine local foods (throughout the year): Fernando’s wife is an expert for cooking genuine local foods. She likes to show you how to cook it. Seasonal, she is using different kind o ingredients: wild asparagus for a genuine local Risotto in springtime mushrooms in autumn, fresh fruits in summer and all, of course, from the garden of the Agriturismo. Back home, you can cook ones or another recipe and always remind your holidays in Italy. The costs per person are one person 40 Euro, 2 persons 30 Euro, 3-6 persons 25 Euro. Gardening in the garden for vegetables (throughout the year): At the Gulf of Gaeta, the climate is mild Mediterranean throughout the year. Therefore, it is possible to plant vegetables seasonally. The Agriturismo Agriart plants tomatoes, pepper, chilli, aubergine, pumpkins, onions, different kind of cabbages and salads. Fernando and his wife are glad for helpers. Fruit-harvest and production (in summer): In Agriturismo, the harvest is in the early summer and summer: figs, apples, pears, cornel cherries and a fruit of a tree that is in the Italian language Corbezzolo. The cornel cherry and the Corbezzolo are genuine local fruits. You are welcome to help during the harvest. At the same time, Fernando’s wife can show you how to produce dry fruits. Painting curses (throughout the year): Fernando is offering painting curses in oil, aquarelle and acryl. The price depends on the number of persons, lesson hours and material. Holidays between various subjects and curses: Olive-harvest (from November to January): Fernando invites you to the olive-harvest in the winter months. Pick your own oil in the olive grove around the Agriturismo – organic guaranteed. Of course, guests pick so long and much as they want – so that they still have enough time for excursions, visits and sightseeing tours around or just sitting cosily by the fireside with a glass of homemade liqueur or wine. Together you will bring the olives to a small mill for pressing the olives into “liquid gold” on the weekend, packaging for you to take it back home. When the weather is fine, the harvest will be every day. You can help as much as you want. Please think about it, that picking the olives is a more or less physical hard work, because you have to climb up ladders and trees. In addition, picking the olives should not be piecework; rather it should make fun and bring relaxation, like a meditation by contact with nature. Because of this, we pick our olives only manual, not by machines. Half of the picked olives are yours, so you can take the pressed oil back home. The only supplementary costs are for the pressing with the mill by 1,80 Euro per pressed litre in accordance with your share. Go mushrooming (from September to December): In Italy you need a licence for going mushrooming. To get the licence, the knowledge about will thoroughly examined. Fernando has such a licence and he is an expert about going mushrooming. In the autumn, you can go with Fernando in the Aurunci Mountains for mushrooming and to hear, one’s or another’s secret about it. Following you can learn how to cook regional specialities with the mushrooms. Cost per person, only for going mushrooming: one person 25 Euro, 2 persons 20 Euro, 3-6 person 17 Euro. Cost per person with going mushrooming and following cooking and eating: one person 50 Euro, 2 persons 40 Euro, 3-6 persons 35 Euro. Learning about looking for wild herbs in the Monti Aurunci (during springtime): In spring, wild herbs are shooing up on the Aurunci Mountains. With Fernando, you can learn which of them you can eat and how to prepare. Of course, you can pick wild herbs for liqueurs, spices and tees. You can learn how to dry and to conserve the wild herbs optimal. You can take your own picked herbs and tees with you, so later at home during cooking with them, you can always remind you on your holiday in Italy. The cost per person: one person 25 Euro, 2 persons 20 Euro, 3-6 persons 17 Euro. Wine-production (15th to 30th September): In the Agriturismo Agriart, the wine-production begins in September. Here you can learn about the history of producing wine since the antic times. The Agriturismo has about 400 vines and is going to buy further bunch of grapes for the productions. Learning about looking for wild asparagus in the Monti Aurunci (from February to May): A very delicious speciality is wild asparagus. Famous is a Risotto with wild asparagus, besides you can cook with it Omelettes, different kinds of noodle meals and fresh salads. The small asparagus are growing in the Aurunci Mountains from February to May. Fernando knows one`s way around so he can show you the best places; following his wife shows you how to prepare local specialities with the asparagus. Enjoy your meal! The costs per person are one person 50 Euro, 2 persons 40 Euro, 3-6 persons 35 Euro. Liqueur-productions (from spring to summer): In the Agriturismo, you can prepare some difference kind of liqueur in springtime and summer. After collecting the herbs with Fernando, you can use them as ingredient for your own liqueur. Next day you can learn how to distil. Of course, you can take a bottle back home. The costs per person are one person 80 Euro, 2 persons 55 Euro, 3-6 persons 45 Euro.
