BRIJUNI A special place to visit is the Brijuni Archipelag with the main Island Big Brijuni, that was opened to public and became a National Park in 1984. The Island has been the residence of many aristocratic families since the ancient time, and then again in the Austroungaric time when Istria has been part of the Austroungaric Empire. There is almost no major statesman or aristocratic that have not been on the Island. The Island is not important only for her natural beauty but also for Roman rests like The Bizantin Castrum and the beautiful Roman Villas from the I century a.c., then for her big Etnographic museum, Frescos, Archeological museum and Natural expositions. Brijuni has always been visited by those who search for beauty and peace, excitment and connection with nature. Brijuni the Island of vergin beauty, is impossible to describe with words only, you should come and visit it in person. Pula On the southest part of the Istrian peninsula is situated Pula. FAŽANA, an old fishermans place well known from the ancient times as Vasinium (amphora), has succeded in keeping an interesting old center of grey stones, in whose tiny streets the smell and salt of the see, with it's clear blue color still penetrates. Fažana was built at the opposite side of the Brijuni Island, making us who stand there feel like in a magical circle of see and land. On the central square the Church of St. Damian and Kuzma ( two christian martyrs III-IV century a.c.) it's of most importance because of their history. The martyrs cured the sick children for free with their natural powers and that is why they became Saints patrons of that profession. In the Roman time Fažana was of big importane not only for her geographical position but for the fabbrication of amphoras that were used for the transportation of wine and oils. Today good road connections with Pula, the international airport, railway, marines make Fažana closest to the world. So, if you decide to spend some of your time or a vacation in Fažana the pleasent hosts will try to make you feel at home.
