From the Angels' Home you can reach in a few minutes walk the tourist information point, the Castle of Salvaterra, the Pisans' Walls, the historical town archives, the public gardens, Piazza Sella (the main square of the town), the Cathedral and all the medieval churches of the town. Close to the house, there are the most important streets with shops and services.

In the historical centre of Iglesias narrow streets and the little shops of downtown bring you back in time, when Iglesias was the town of knights and noblewomen of the ancient Donoratico della Gherardesca Family. Iglesias means “the churches”, in ancient Italian language. It takes its name from the huge number (about 20!) of medieval Christian buildings that you can find in town. HISTORY: In medieval times as today, Iglesias was the first town of South- West Sardinia. The memory of this glorious past is kept by the Castle of Salvaterra and the Pisans' Walls. Iglesias had also one of the most ancient laws code in Middle Ages, so called Breve di Villa di Chiesa. The town pride is always alive with many historical parades (with medieval costumes) and medieval tournaments. Iglesias is also in the middle of the Geological Park of Sulcis Iglesiente (recognised by UNESCO in 1998), with many mines and caves, because since the XIX century there was a huge underground exploitation in the area. Today you can visit the places where miners worked and lived, in a magic atmosphere from the darkness of galleries and subways to the beauty of the green and blue nature of South Sardinia In 10 minutes by car/motorbike you can reach from here the marvellous coast of Iglesias and Gonnesa, rich of sandy beaches with clean and light blue sea. A splendid coastline, with long expanses of fine, golden sand, but also by sheer cliffs dropping down to the blue sea.
