Nice place overall, clean and spacious. The sauna was a nice addition after a day of skiing. The only thing was that the check-in time seemed a bit tight, but the hosts were friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed the private garden, perfect for morning coffee.

The Dachstein Giant Ice Cave, the Mammoth Cave, and the Koppenbrüller Cave were only discovered in the 20th century and are now among the most exciting natural monuments in Austria. The caves can be reached directly from Obertraun by cable car and a short 15-minute hike. Enjoy a panoramic view of the World Heritage region and Lake Hallstatt from the Welterbespirale viewing platform, located at the 2,100-meter-high summit of the Krippenstein, 500 meters above the valley floor.

In winter, the Krippenstein – Obertraun ski area attracts skiers and snowboarders with 12 kilometers of slopes and 30 km of cross-country trails. A total of seven lifts take you up to over 2,100 meters in altitude. The white mountain landscape can be explored more comfortably on snowshoes.
