Cozy holiday home for feeling good

We were here on a ski vacation with several families and had a great time!

*Cleanliness:*
Everything was perfectly clean!

*Facilities and Furnishings:*
The holiday home is very cozily furnished in alpine style.
On the upper floor, there are several rooms of different sizes, and on the ground floor, a living kitchen with a corner bench invites you to cook. Next door is the living room with a large couch and another corner bench area. Our children always played here. Additionally, there is a very spacious dining room where we all found room together.
In the basement, there is a sauna with a relaxation room.
Overall, the house is super functional with a large hallway, an anteroom for all shoes, a pantry, and a ski cellar.
In the garden, our children were able to play in the snow and build a snowman.

*Location:*
The holiday home is located in a small hamlet near the town of Mauterndorf. One has a dreamlike view of the high valley and the surrounding mountains. From the house, a beautiful hiking path leads to the village.
Supermarkets and restaurants can be reached by car in 3 minutes.

*Contact with the host:*
The contact with the host was very friendly and uncomplicated.

We would unreservedly recommend the house for families with children or groups. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back!
The price-performance ratio is right! ? ?

Chalet in Mauterndorf near Ski Slopes

The location is very nice and quiet! The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are very good. The equipment is just sufficient. For example, towel hooks are missing. At least an immersion blender would be helpful. An espresso machine is not available. Refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher are available in double, which is just enough for 10 people. The condition is very good to very bad: one dishwasher is defective! The freezer door of a refrigerator is broken and cannot be opened, door shelves and the vegetable drawer are broken and not load-bearing. The stove can hardly be used, as it overheats on cooking level (5), shuts off, and is completely blocked from being turned back on for hours. This degrades the kitchen to a breakfast kitchen. Knives are broken – bring your own. Large pots are available, but a colander is not. Please no non-stick pans. They can be easily damaged. Toilet seats are glued with power tape. A replacement would surely have been easier and cheaper. Unfortunately, these are sufficient reasons for the poor rating. I would like to spend another summer vacation in this house and area if the few serious deficiencies are fixed.

During the winter (at least), this house should be advertised like 4 bedrooms. The fifth bedroom is not heated and also the bathroom was no heated. The owner offered a small airflow heater - it was not enough and the bathroom was still frozen. In addition, there was a very noisy in the night. So, after the first night nightmare, we reorganized and slept 10 people in 4 bedrooms (a big inconvenient for us). We also had an argue with the owner regarding the temperature in the house. He raised the temperature, in the end. He wants to make economy, but, as a tourist paying a lot of money, I need warm and comfort (we had -19 Celsius degree in the night). Apart from this problem, everything would have been perfect. Two bedrooms are very nice and comfortable, but other two bedrooms are small and not enough space to store your personal items. All in all, the price is very high for what they offer.

Perhaps from your holiday home or apartment, you can see the imposing Mauterndorf Castle, which promises a journey back to the Middle Ages. During a guided tour, you can explore the sleeping chambers of the former rulers or the steep defensive tower. A great hustle and bustle takes place in July when the castle and village host a large medieval festival. Mauterndorf became a holiday paradise thanks to the approximately 60 mountain lakes and 45 managed alpine huts in the region and the opportunity for exciting hikes through the picturesque nature. These include the NaturPur trail with its 50 stations and the Trogalmseen hike. Or take a ride on the quaint Taurach Railway, the highest-altitude narrow-gauge railway in all of Austria. This is a steam-powered locomotive that takes you from Mauterndorf to the sleepy St. Andrä and back again. Worth seeing are the glacier mills, which were formed during the last Ice Age in the Hammer district, or the Roman temple in Steindorf, which was discovered under the garden of a farmhouse. A yearly highlight is the Balloon Weeks in January when international teams take to the skies over the Alps. Sometimes there is even an opportunity to go on board. In the balloon, you get a view of the Alps that you will never forget. With a bit of luck, crossings of the Alps to Italy or Slovenia are also possible. Discover the traditions of the Lungau during the Samson parades, which take place four times a year. A man carries the giant figure of Samson on his shoulders according to an old custom.
