La Perla, Boutique Bed and Breakfast, offers the other side of México that most Americans never see. La Perla, with its past movie star connections, continues as a place to meet people. The glamour of the Moorish mansion, in downtown Guadalajara, still remains. La Perla is lavishly furnished with Baker, John Widdicomb, Karges, and Kindle; decorated with a Mexican movie star flair, using Mexican accessories, priceless Mexican paintings along with Lalique, Steuben, Swarovski, Waterford, Wedgwood, Coalport and Val St. Lambert to name a few. The rooms that you will stay in honor the glamorous Movie Stars connected to the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. Estrella de Teatro is the largest of the rooms and has an elegant four-poster bed from Baker Furniture. It has two large, round topped, shuttered windows opening to a broad view of the neighborhood and Vallarta Street. This room has the most spacious bathroom, with a shower large enough for more than three people and two shower heads. Estrella de Radio is furnished with John Widdicomb furniture and has French doors opening onto a large private balcony terrace overlooking other neighborhood mansions. It is the best room for your sweetheart's serenade. A typical Méxican Serenata can consist of a full Mariachi or a simple trio below your balcony. Estrella de Cine has French doors opening onto an intimate, private balcony, with a spectacular view looking up to a towering Neoclassical dome. Each luxurious room at La Perla has a queen-size bed, private bath with shower, a/c and heat, flat screen TV, CD stereo, high-speed Internet hookup, wireless connection, ceiling fan, two bath robes, alarm clock, hair dryer and each room has its own hot water heater. You are welcome to have visitors at La Perla. Registered guests must accompany their visitors at all times. La Perla is on the West side of "Centro" Guadalajara on a quiet, short, neighborhood street, just off Vallarta Avenue, with over 40 gay bars and clubs, in walking distance. They include discothèques, show bars, stripper bars, upscale martini bars, cafes, restaurants, and bath houses. Like all places, they each draw a different group of people: some draw a college crowd, some cowboys right off the ranch. We normally go out with our guests the first couple nights to help them become comfortable and to find the type bars they will enjoy the most, for the rest of their stay. Everyone says it really helps make more out of their vacation when they are here for only a week. We are looking forward to your visit with us.

Mercado Libertad is where the Mexicans shop for the best buys. La Perla is also within walking distance of el Centro Joyero Wholesale-Retail Jewelry District. It consists of buildings, forming a mega shopping center for jewelry. Even after a busy day of sightseeing and shopping, you will find it impossible not to succumb to the tempting invitation to go out at night. Guadalajara is a city of music, you can choose a tranquil Bohemian bar or an extravagant disco with the ultimate in technology and music.
