Description

The former farmhouse with thick natural stone walls was converted into a holiday home about 40 years ago and extensively restored in 2014 in the old style.
The total living space is approx. 70 m². The living/bedroom with 45 m² occupies the entire upper floor. An outside staircase gives access to the garden. The lower bedroom with 16 square meters has 2 or 3 beds and its own access to the garden. The two floors of the house are also connected inside with a wooden staircase. The window of the lower room faces the garden and with a few steps you are in the attached shower room with toilet. In a separate vault there is space for suitcases, parasols, loungers, etc.
A quiet, effective, quiet air conditioner, cools the upstairs space and heats the house on cooler days.
The 6 windows offer wonderful views on all sides - each window a picture! The upper room leads to the small terrace and the kitchen. At breakfast you can see far across the sea from here, an awning protects you from too much sun. An outside staircase leads down to the green garden. The lower large terrace is covered by the leaves of a wisteria, which blooms beautifully in March/April, and a fragrant jasmine. A shady jacaranda tree forms a canopy over the garden and blooms blue/purple in June. From the lower seat you have a magnificent panoramic view of the olive groves, the sea and the sunset.
The house has been lovingly furnished for the owner's own needs.
Furnishing:
Upper room: extendable table, cupboard, antique secretary, chests, double bed 180 cm wide, wall safe, books, travel guides, etc.
Lower room: 2 single beds, 1 of which can be pulled out, chest of drawers, table, chairs.
Kitchen: 2-fold induction plate, electric grill, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment. Plenty of crockery and glasses.
Towels, bed linen, fan, mosquito nets, running cold and warm water, 1000 liter reserve water tank with house water pressure system, hot water with solar system, automatic garden irrigation, various garden furniture and loungers.
You can drive up to 15 meters from the house by car.

Location and surroundings of object

The historic village of Lefktron is located just above Stoupa on the hillside. Through olive groves you go from the house 1000 m to the sandy beaches and 800 m to the shops. Bakers and 3 supermarkets offer everything that is offered in the EU. There is a diving school directly at the Kalogria beach. Car rental companies, boat rental companies and travel agencies are in town. Stoupa/Lefkton is about 30 kilometers south of Kalamata on the west side of the middle finger of the Peloponnese Peninsula. Two fine sandy beaches with crystal clear water are ideal for small children. In Kalogria, a freshwater spring feeds a natural "bathtub" in the rock where you can rinse off the salty water. But there are also showers.
This place is actually the original location where the writer Nikos Katzanzakis and his foreman Alexis Zorbas tried to mine brown coal in 1917.
Towards Ághios Nikoláos to the east and towards Kardamíli to the west you will find more sand and pebble beaches, as well as rocky bays with crystal clear water.
Excellent restaurants offer traditional Greek cuisine and freshly caught fish. It is cooler in the evenings in the mountain villages, and small, rustic taverns invite you to eat.
The Mani, long an underdeveloped region, has been discovered by tourists without being overcrowded.

Holiday home with charm

For two weeks in August, we were guests at the Manihaus.
As soon as you enter the lush green courtyard, you feel comfortable. The rooms are tastefully and practically furnished, nothing is missing. The view is beautiful, you can't get enough of it.
Very pleasant communication with the always helpful landlord!
We would come back anytime.

Clean, quiet, and beautiful

If you are looking for a secluded, clean, lovingly restored Mani house with a beautiful garden and a fantastic view of the sea, welcome!
If a 15-minute walk to the beach is not too much for you, and if you like great restaurants by the sea and also in the mountains, welcome!
If you like it when there is a little something going on, but you don't want to be overrun, and if you have an appreciation for the rugged yet diverse landscape of the Peloponnese, welcome again!
We had a wonderful 3 weeks here, and Mr. Schmidt-Petersen, the landlord, always made us feel welcome!

Enchanted Mani House

If you are looking for or hoping for "modern comfort", you are in the wrong place. A house with an archaic structure and a special life of its own awaits you. You have to get involved with this, which we did. The garden presents a lush array of plants. You walk on stone paths over various steps to different vaults, such as the "bath house" and terraces. You can feel how much effort and love the owners have invested in their little paradise. The upper kitchen terrace with its awning and idiosyncratic construction is something very special. Lingering there and enjoying the view is blissful. But also the living-bedroom is captivating not only because of its construction, but especially because of its imposing panoramic views.
Thank you dear Jochen for letting us experience and enjoy your enchanted paradise.

Fantastic!

Behind the gate to the house, you suddenly find yourself in a green oasis.

The house is quaint, beautiful and furnished with love.

The wide view of the sea from the upper terrace is brilliant! After breakfast, we sat here well into midday and looked forward to it again in the evening after swimming.

The village, down by the water, is also wonderfully unagitated and yet lively and very cosy.

My wife, our kids (14 & 17) and I had a great time here and would love to do it again!!!

recommend for: seniors, cultural and sightseeing holiday, beach holiday, romantic holiday

Answer from Mr. J. Petersen:

Vielen Dank für die positive Bewertung. Es freut uns immer, wenn Freunde und Gäste das Haus und die Umgebung so toll finden. Ihr seid jederzeit gerne wieder willkommen!
