Gorgeously located cottage in quiet forest location directly on the lake Nissången, 15 km from the center of Malung (Dalarna). Distance from Stockholm 350 km, Göteborg 420 km, Malmö 710 km.
Enter the lake directly from the plot. The beach is shallow with sand bottom – excellent for small children. Further up in the bay is a public beach – one of the very best in Malung. There is one neighbour in between. On a hot / sunny day, local families come to swim. The total quietness may be interrupted for a few hours.
Spacious sun deck facing south and west, offering a 180 degree view of the lake.
The living-room has a fireplace the dining table is placed by a large set of windows offering a stunning view over the lake. In the back of the room is one double bed (2 beds).
The main bedroom has two bunk beds of the old Dalecarlian type, in total four beds. Additional twin beds is available in a small bedroom in the boathouse building.
The kitchen, lacking running water, is equipped with wood stove, LPG stove & oven and LPG fridge.
The cottage is charmingly primitive - there is no electricity. Lighting comes from candles and oil lamps. Drinking water is collected from a well on the lot.
The boathouse contains a woodshed, row-boat and two bicycles. Here are also safety wests in adult and children sizes. Separate privy with lake view.
A log house directly on the beach contains a wood fired sauna, a simple (camping) shower and a relax room with breathtaking views over the lake, along with a sundeck in two levels and a connecting pier into the lake.

LIMITED STANDARD
The standard of the cottage, built in 1955, is primitive. There is no electricity and no running water. The lighting comes from oil lamps and candles.
Water is collected from a well on the lot - by winding up a chained bucket.
Personal hygiene matters are preferably carried out in the lake. The toilet (privy) is of type outside lavatory.
For a successful vacation, you should enjoy outdoor life close to the nature in a unique location with spectacular views. The standard does not appeal to those who require comfortable city living.
At Lake Nissången, life style is ”back to basics” - outdoor life style. You are no longer constantly online "the net".

Recreation for body, mind and soul
We have been able to enjoy a little piece of paradise on earth here for a week! Here you can completely switch off, see breathtaking nature and let it have an effect on you, come to rest on the lake in a boat and just be! We are fulfilled and blessed! As a nature-loving family with joy in simplicity, this week was almost luxurious! My husband was able to let off steam by making a fire, frying self-caught fish, etc. The children learned to row and let their imagination run wild in playing with the rescue boat. And I had peace and time to lie in the sun and read two (!) books. We enjoyed the sauna, had game nights with a fireplace (in the evenings it was better to be inside than outside because of the mosquitoes), cooked delicious food, hiked through the Fulufjället National Park (highly recommended, even if the journey is a bit long), and actually appreciated not having anything to do, not every minute planned! This works very well in such an atmosphere in such beautiful nature. The lake with its surroundings, the constantly changing light is so incredibly fascinating, you can watch it for hours! We are simply happy to have had this vacation!

Paradise on the lake
The charming cottage on the lake is worth a holiday. We would have loved to stay longer!
The main house with fireplace, wood cooker, gas cooker and gas fridge is a quiet paradise far away from any disturbance. Including no mobile phone network in the house, but with a little movement you can quickly find a network if you want one.
There are all kinds of accessories (kitchen utensils, umbrellas, candles, tools, barbecue, toys, etc.) that make it immediately homely.
An outbuilding is the sauna, with wood stove, directly at the jetty
A boathouse stands on the other side of the property and comes with tools, barbecue, boats and oars, life jackets, bicycles, wood and even a guest room.
An outhouse, storage hut and well make up the last three buildings.
Simplicity is the deciding factor here for switching to holidays. Fire up the stove in the kitchen in the morning, maybe the fireplace on a cold morning. Fetch water (drinkable without boiling) from the well. Make coffee on the cooker. Sit on the terrace and watch the lake. Wood also needs to be chopped, ash bins emptied and the stove stoked. But all these "simple" things that create an unfamiliar new routine also create an immediate exit from the daily work routine.
We went on many hikes in the near vicinity or even some distance away, among others in some of the surrounding national parks. We were able to see moose, reindeer, foxes and even a bear.
Or you can simply enjoy the peace and quiet, the view over the lake, the crackling fireplace.

So much peace and nature - simply incredible
We had a fantastic time in this wonderful house by the lake. Our last holiday could not have been better. So much peace and nature - simply incredible. We are going back to our beloved capital with lots of great memories, but can't rule out coming back one day. All the best, Mareen & Simon

The fishing was brilliant - you don't find that in Germany.
There is a certain melancholy when we think of the past two weeks. The peace, the tranquillity, the preoccupation with the simple and yet so important things, such as making a fire, chopping wood, filling up logs, fetching water, heating water. No emails, no Facebook, no news - no, just living.
The fishing was brilliant, you don't find that in Germany. Recommendation: Go for pike in the river Sångån. I caught a pike of 99cm with the 8 fly rod, just awesome!!!
The evening fishing in the Västerdalälven was a very beautiful experience, the intense colours of the brown trout, the pair of cranes, the low-flying seagulls, the hatching mayflies - you can put up with a few mosquitoes and knot attacks for that

The loooong journey from the south of Germany was worth it.
The long journey from the south of Germany was worth it: we were able to enjoy wonderfully relaxed weeks here without any plans. Sometimes rowing and fishing, a bit of hiking, canoeing, sunbathing, reading, and looking at the lake or the clouds. Heat up the sauna in the evenings and escape the mosquitoes. We have come to love crispbread and buttermilk. Thanks for this beautiful place.

QUIET and PEACEFUL

HOPE TO BE BACK SOON
Thanks for our stay at this wonderful place lake Nissången. We knew what to expect from the internet but the reality is even better than the photos! We loved the place from the very first moment! It´s so quiet! It is much better than we ever could imagine! We enjoyed to go with the boats. The cosiness with your Husqvarna kitchen stove created a nice athmospere, and kept us warm in the evening. We loved to bath in the lake, to sit in front of the sauna oven, or to enjoy the many terraces. The house is nice. The lake is turning its face every day its very special! The house is very proper, including lots of handicrafts to make it so nice! We hope to be back soon!

WIR KOMMEN WIEDER
Unser erster Schweden urlaub war einfach genial. Der Platz am Nissången See ist wunderschön einfach zum Entspannen. Die Sauna ist ein Traum. Wir haben vor nächstes Jahr wieder zu kommen.

DREAM LOCATION BY THE LAKE
