Location and surroundings of object

Stavros is about 1 hour (approx. 80km) away from the destination airport Thessaloniki.

the beautiful town is located in northern Greece on the road leading from Thessaloniki to Kavala, in the bay of the Strymonian Gulf

Long bright sandy beaches with very clean water stretch along the bay and have made Stavros a popular holiday resort in recent years. Post office, banks, medical care, many shopping facilities ... as well as a LIDL market

In the centre of the village (Kato Stavros), a mix of small restaurants, bars, shops and music clubs has developed, typical for Greek holiday resorts, which invites you to stroll around and more in the evenings after beach days or excursion programmes.

Olympiada, the birthplace of Aristotle, is only 10 km away.
The large area of ancient Stágira, excavated on the east coast near Olympiada, can be visited. The fortress wall is almost completely preserved and stretches far up the mountain behind a fine sandy bay. At the bottom of a depression by the sea, the Agorá was uncovered. The foundations of the residential town then stretch up the slope of a rocky outcrop jutting into the sea, surrounded by crystal-clear, deep-blue water.

Organised bus trips to the ancient cities of Amphipolis and Philippi, as well as excursions to Chalkidikí,... are offered in the village. Convenient transport connections exist to Thessaloníki, Serres, Drama, Kavala and Ouranoupolis, from where a round trip to the holy mountain AGIO OROS and the beautiful monasteries of Athos is possible.

Our family holiday in Stavros

we were very satisfied and will come to Mrs. Schunk again this year
In the large flat you have everything you need, we felt at home. The surroundings are also very beautiful, but you need a car. In Stavros and Asprovalta there are many shopping possibilities like Lidl and a few others....
Olimpiada is a small romantic village with a very nice beach and is a few kilometres away from Stavros.
The house is not directly on the beach but the view is still nice and you can see it from the big terrace.
The Schunk family is very friendly and welcoming!

Wonderful family holiday

Our family has now spent two holidays in Niki's holiday flat. We would hardly have come back if we had not liked it very much.
The flat is very spacious and well-equipped, and air conditioning is to be installed in the third bedroom. The beautiful garden and the large terrace leave nothing to be desired. We spent many beautiful summer evenings there.
Niki takes perfect care of her guests. This is Greek hospitality par exellence.
However, you should have a car. This is not only recommended for shopping (you can get everything at Lidl or in the shops of Stavros), but also when you go to Stavros in the evening for dinner or a stroll
There are wonderful beaches in the area, in Stravros, Olypiada or a bit further south, but you can only reach them by car. You can park there easily and free of charge, there is a beach bar and service with deckchairs, toilets and free showers if you order drinks. Where else can you find that? Caribbean feeling!
At the beach not far from the house you can swim, but not lie down very well.
Those interested in culture also have a lot to see. The monk republic of Athos is not far, Kavala about 70 km (very worthwhile excursion) or Thessaloniki. The unexpectedly green landscape is also remarkable.
Conclusion: great holiday in a great flat with a great landlady in a great landscape with great beaches.
Recommendable..,

Family holiday

We were grandparents with three grandchildren (10 and 7 years) and their father in Mrs. Schunk's holiday flat. Her friendliness and helpfulness were unsurpassed, she and also neighbours brought over fruits and vegetables. The flat is very spacious and well equipped. Communication with the son in Stuttgart was smooth. We can only strongly recommend.

A jewel in the 2nd row

Beyond what can be read in the description of the house and its surroundings:
The house is not directly on the beach, but in the 2nd row, so to speak, and therefore has only a limited sea view, which actually already names all the "disadvantages". The landlady lives on the ground floor, the absolutely spacious and functionally furnished HOLIDAY APARTMENT (i.e. without the frills often found in Greece) is on the first floor, which can be reached via an external staircase. We found everything we like on holiday: apartment with a lot of space, kitchen with all the essentials, large bathroom, nice terrace with deck chairs, barbecue, effective air conditioning in 2 of the 3 bedrooms, a fan in the 3rd and fly screens or fly screen doors throughout - especially the last two aspects are indispensable in high summer in Greece! And last, but not least: The landlady is German-Greek, an extremely likeable older lady, who takes care of her guests in a pleasantly unobtrusive way, but with great cordiality.
The BEACH near the house is not the best, but in Stavros, at the entrance to the village (seen from the holiday house), about 2 km away, there is a beautiful wide sandy beach with a shallow entrance and the corresponding logistics (sun loungers, parasols, beach bar, etc.) or, above all, near and behind Olympiada, there are some off-the-beaten-track bathing bays (somewhat more difficult to reach, without beach showers, etc.) like something out of a picture book.
A must-visit: The small town of Arnea in the mountains - a special gem with wonderful houses.
