Warm summers, but crisp cold winters not excluded
In
Tyrol, the climate ranges from Central European to Alpine. The summer months are mild with temperatures around 20°C. Winters can sometimes be crisp and cold. The water temperature of Lake Achensee rises to a maximum of 20°C in July and August – perfect for a
beach vacation in Pertisau with a mountain panorama. In the cold months, temperatures are around freezing. On the summit, an average of half a meter to one meter of snow in the winter months provides plenty of skiing and tobogganing fun. Whether summer vacation or winter vacation - go hiking or get your skis out! With, for example, the Karwendelbahn or the Rofan cable car, you can reach the ski area.
Hearty and good food in Tyrol
Once, the food in Tyrol was as simple as it was nutritious. Long cold winters had to be bridged with what could be stored and preserved – potatoes, flour, cabbage, onions, bacon, ham, and sausages. Of course, traditional foods still dominate the menu, but today's chefs know how to conjure up a diverse mountain cuisine from them. Gröstl is a dish made from fried potatoes and leftover meat from the Sunday roast. On the alpine huts, dumplings, bacon dumplings, and cheese dumplings are on the menu. In addition, clear beef soups, gray cheese with onions and vinegar, as well as Schlutz or Schlipfkrapfen. The latter is a kind of Tyrolean ravioli, for example with a potato filling. The local gray cheese is made from the milk left over from butter production. In its ripe state, the cheese is particularly spicy and hot. Tired hikers or mountain bikers can find strength in a Brettljause or a Ripperlessen. Both dishes are served on a wooden board. A Jause includes fresh farmer's bread, bacon, cheese, sausage, and pickled cucumbers. Although Tyrol is more of a beer region, here's a tip for Austrian wine. In summer, the fruity and playful Grüner Veltliner refreshes. In the cold season, the red Zweigelt warms from the inside in front of the fireplace.
Töff, töff, töff, the train: Who wants to go on vacation?

Forests, valleys, mountain meadows, and peaks offer opportunities for hiking, cycling, climbing, and paragliding. Relax on a boat trip on the lake. Excursion boats have been operating on Lake Achensee since 1887. Another highlight is the old steam train, which runs between Burgeck, Eben, Maurach, and Seespitz in summer. Following the footsteps of Saint Notburga
Around your vacation home in Pertisau and the main town of Eben am Achensee, numerous sights can be explored on foot along beautiful hiking trails. In Eben, the pilgrimage church of Saint Notburga is worth seeing. The late Gothic church dates from the 16th century and stands on the foundations of an even older church. The Baroque nave dates from the 18th century and is a work of architect Jakob Singer. The bones of the local saint Notburga are kept in a glass shrine on the high altar. A small museum is set up for her in the former Baroque rectory from the 18th century. The exhibition deals with the life of Saint Notburga and legends that have formed around her. In 2006, the Notburga Museum received the Tyrolean Museum Prize.
