Off the beaten path, in the quiet countryside near the historical town of Sintra this very special house is waiting for you .
The castle is a very unique stucture, constructed of large blocks of local stone. It is well insulated and has a green roof. It was designed according to passive solar principles, staying cool in summer and warm in the winter months .It is lovingly decorated with ethnic antique and handcrafted furniture, and all the finishes are of natural materials.
The large doubble glazed windows allow ample sunlight to fill the house and provide unobstructed views of the garden and the rolling hills beyond.
Large terraces surround the house, as well as a shaded sitting area and a lawn, bordered by garden beds with a nice variety of organic herbs, flowers, salad greens, and vegetables. Feel free to pick them and prepare delicious meals in the well equipped kitchen.
Olive trees, Pine trees and meadows dominate this secluded 5 acre property, which is completely enclosed by high fieldstone walls, ensuring your privacy.
The main bedroom has a 160 cm wide double bed. On request we can add an additional bed for a child. The back bedroom has two single beds ( size 1x2 m ), which can be placed together or apart. The small bedroom has a sofabed ( 140 cm wide ) with a topper. An additional futon bed can be made up in the living room.

Location and surroundings of object
The village of Sao Joao das Lampas is a 10 minute walk away. There you can find everything for your daily needs. Just off the village square there are cafés, restaurants, a small supermarket, bakery, post office, and a pharmacy.
A traditional farmer's market takes place on the first Sunday of every month, where you can browse amongst stalls offering tools, shoes, chickens, and garden plants, as well as fruit, vegetables, cheese and other local products.
The surrounding countryside is dotted by windmills, fields, and gently rolling hills stretching to the Atlantic coast. The nearby beaches are under the protection of the Sintra–Cascais Nature Park, and many are relatively calm even in summer.
The quiet but central location of the property is an ideal starting point for day trips.
There are two houses on the property, the "Stone Cottage" and the "Stone Castle." The Cottage is located on the upper part of the land, and the Castle on the lower part, surrounded by large pine trees. They are separated by a distance of over 200 m, so that the privacy of the individual houses is not compromised.

Great family domicile in spring
We are total fans of the Stone Lodge and have been there four times already.
A little bit about the house, because it's really something special: The lodge is built from large stone blocks and has a modern layout with plenty of space. With practical details and sensational furnishings featuring many Indian decorative elements, the house is truly an experience. It is located on a large plot a few minutes outside the nearest village (Sao Jao das Lampas) in a quiet secluded area, enclosed by a stone wall and surrounded by trees and bushes.
And since we have always been there during the height of summer, this year we visited Portugal in March. It was a bit chilly, but thanks to the plentiful rain in the weeks prior, the landscape was lush, everything was green, and flowers were blooming everywhere. With the new stove, we managed the slightly cooler nights well - and during the day, the stay was fantastic anyway.
Even though the nearest beach (Magoito) is very beautiful and only a short drive away, we were almost always at or around the house. The garden is beautiful, it's totally quiet, and from the garden as well as the living room, you have a great view at any time of day. Good beds, a solid and very tasteful interior, a well-equipped kitchen, and last but not least, the super friendly and helpful hosts Paul and Steffi round off the experience wonderfully.

Fantastic, special and unique place
This location is unique and one of a kind. Big, very complete house. And very nice and warm hosts. And in the middle of nice cities such as Sintra to visit.

A dream house!
We (2 adults, 3 children aged 15, 13 and 11) spent a fantastic holiday week in this beautiful holiday house. In reality, the house is actually even more beautiful than in the photos - it is very tastefully furnished with lots of wood and stone, mainly from India. The spacious living and dining area really invites you to come together. The kitchen is very well equipped. In the surrounding garden there are various seating areas (wind-protected, under trees, sunny, with a view), we particularly liked the lush flowering bougainvilleas here.
By car you can reach the nearest expansive beach in about 10 minutes - we also took surfing lessons there with Nicholas, the son of the landlord (Surfschule Sintra), which we really enjoyed. In the village of San Joao das Lampas there is a small Spar market (4 minutes' drive). There are good restaurants in the surrounding villages - we relied on Stefanie's recommendations here.
All in all, a great place to spend your vacation!

The perfect holiday
For us, it was the perfect holiday.
We could enjoy the peace and quiet or immerse ourselves in the hustle and bustle of Lisbon, which was within easy reach.
The house offers a lot of space and is equipped with everything you need for a holiday home

Holiday for the soul
my wife and I were able to spend two wonderful weeks in this beautiful and lovingly furnished domicile. Apart from the fact that nothing is lacking in comfort or function, I have to pay Stefanie and Paul a huge compliment: This house has been built and furnished with great attention to detail and with every detail coordinated and coherent. Embedded in the surroundings and nature, Stone Lodge looks alive and as if it has grown. Everything fits together. There is a lot to discover and admire, so that my wife and I could and wanted to spend many a beautiful day at the place. Stefanie was also always friendly and helpful with information and was always approachable.
We will definitely be back!

Extraordinary house
The house is an absolute dream. It is quietly situated so that you can really relax. The furnishings are a feast for the eyes and the equipment leaves nothing to be desired. We didn't miss anything. By car you can get to Lisbon and Sintra very quickly. A hiking trail leads past the property. We enjoyed our week at Stone Castle very much. The evenings by the fireplace, the beautiful garden and especially the peace and quiet. We are already looking forward to our next holiday here at the Castle. Thank you Stefanie and Paul for the wonderful time in your holiday home.

Top holiday home
We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful holiday home. It is very quiet and yet central to all the sights in Sintra and Lisbon is also not far away. After our sightseeing tours we were able to enjoy the sun on the terrace.
We also liked the great furnishing with antique furniture and the equipment of the house. There was really nothing missing and besides vinegar, oil, spices there was also cling film etc. in the kitchen. The house will be our first address for our next holiday in Portugal. Many thanks to Stefanie!

Simply perfect
We spent an absolutely fantastic holiday in Steffi and Paul's house in the summer of 2017 with five people (parents with two children aged 13 and 15 and one guest). The house is really unique: very quiet location, a great garden, great view, an absolutely unique house built from giant stone blocks in modern, functional architecture. In addition, very lovingly selected furniture, details and art/craft from India. Steffi and Paul are super hosts - extremely friendly, very attentive, never intrusive. The house is a dream. You definitely need a car to get there. The road is easy to find, but underbody protection for the rental car is recommended. Otherwise, everything is there: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth box, fully equipped kitchen, vegetables from the garden, a small lawn for morning yoga exercises, etc. And a little tip: Nic - the son of the two hosts - is the perfect coach for surfing and bodyboarding! And he speaks German, Portuguese and English.

Top apartment.great holiday
During our surfing and climbing holiday, we rented a room at Stone Castle. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Steffi. We were immediately impressed by the individual and tasteful furnishings, as well as the modern equipment, which is also perfectly suited for a longer stay. The quiet location and the beautiful ambience also invite you to relax, yet it is only a 10-minute walk to the centre of the village, where you can find several small restaurants, bars, bakeries and grocery shops. Anyone who wants to combine a beach holiday with culture and sport is in exactly the right place on this section of the breathtaking Atlantic coast. At this point, a big thank you to Stefffi and Paul for their support and a great holiday.
