A few kilometers away is Torrita, ancient fortified castle of the southern border of the Sienese State, constantly threatened by the Florentines, who had their outermost rampart in Montepulciano. Today the village has developed into a modern town with shops and services of any kind. The town is also an excellent starting point for day trips or for shorter tours of the nearby towns of Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano or Cortona.
Distance to Torrita di Siena with shops and restaurants is about 4 km, riding is about 15 km and tennis 5 km away. Arezzo is around 40 km, Siena 55 km away and Florence 100 km.
