Cosy Havneby - 8 km south of the dam, on the east coast of the beautiful Wadden Sea island of Rømø. The holiday cottages in the Havneby area are situated in a beautiful, quiet heathland area. - From here you have a marvellous view over the Wadden Sea and the North Sea. In the cosy harbour area, where you will also encounter many birds and seals, there is a very special and peaceful island harbour atmosphere. Take a trip to the island of Sylt from here, for example. Havneby is a great starting point if you enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking or cycling in the idyllic countryside. The heather is particularly beautiful when it starts to bloom in July and spreads a purple blanket over the landscape. The Vråby plantation is ideal for hiking and walking and the Stagebjerg viewpoint offers walkers a fantastic view over the island and the sea. The other plantations on the island are also worth a visit. With a bit of luck, you might spot a pheasant or deer here. Römö is the perfect place for bird lovers. The mudflats and marshland are home to a wide variety of bird species, which is why large parts of the island are protected and the Wadden Sea National Park has been established along the coast. Excursions to the mudflats are best undertaken under the guidance of a nature guide who knows all about the tides, animal species and the entire ecosystem of the area. Tours are organised by various providers, some of which are also aimed at families with children.
