Location and surroundings of object
The central location of the holiday home on a quiet residential side street in the middle of the old town not far from the Isar River is the ideal starting point for walks and bike tours.
Bakery, supermarket, cash machine, restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlour, cinema, museum - everything is within easy walking distance.
In the immediate and wider surroundings, there are a multitude of possibilities for an equally relaxing, but also interesting and entertaining pastime. The region offers a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. The town of Landau a. d. Isar is charmingly situated directly on the slopes of the Isar at the junction of the A92 and the B 20 in the heart of Lower Bavaria. Founded by the Wittelsbach Duke Ludwig, also known as the Kelheimer, the town has a lot to offer in terms of sights.
One of the largest baroque churches in Lower Bavaria, the parish church of St. Mary's Assumption, and the pilgrimage church of Maria im Steinfelse with its numerous votive tablets of folkloric value are particularly worthy of mention.
The ducal palace built by the town's founder, the Kastenhof, is also worthy of mention. The Lower Bavarian Museum of Archaeology, one of the most modern museums in Bavaria, is housed here and provides an insight into early history in four fully digitalised sections. A visit for the whole family is worthwhile.
Another highlight is the Growing Rock of Usterling, one of the most important geotopes in Bavaria with a length of approx. 40 m and a height of 5 m.
The winding little streets with their pavement cafés and the unique view from the upper town into the Isar Valley as far as the Bavarian Forest are also particularly charming. A visit to the viewing platform in the Kastenhof is always worthwhile.
