Description
Cosy and spacious holiday flat in the historic school of Neuwerk in the Harz mountains (near Rübeland), built in 1905. The attic of the building with the distinctive clock tower was completely rebuilt in 2013, while the original character of the building was largely preserved. On the ground floor there are two large former classrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, which you can book for your event if required. Tried and tested for up to 100 people!
The heart of the flat is the large open kitchen-living room with tiled stove. The kitchen is fully equipped and offers seating for approx. 12-15 people at the large dining table. Furthermore, the flat has two shower bathrooms with toilet and a small guest toilet.
The flat has three large bedrooms with single beds (and space for children's beds) and two small bedrooms with double beds.
The newly laid pine floor throughout the flat and the old beams of the half-timbering, which have been left as original as possible, create a uniquely cosy atmosphere. The warmth of the tiled stove and/or the central heating system ensures well-being at all times of the year.
An extra bed in the flat is possible without any problems due to sufficient space. Two children's beds are available free of charge, as are highchairs.
For a larger family reunion, you are welcome to book the holiday home "Kickels Hus Neuwerk" (right next door) (14 beds).
For family celebrations or similar, the large classroom (with kitchen and toilet9 on the ground floor will soon be available. Please enquire if you are interested.
Attention: Celebrations yes, but no wild parties possible!

Location and surroundings of object
Nestled deep in the Bode Valley is the village school, newly built and inaugurated in 1905, with its distinctive clock tower at the entrance to Neuwerk near Rübeland in the Bode Valley. The school grounds are about 1500 square metres in size and are covered with three old chestnut trees. The sound of the nearby Bode river and, when the wind blows, the chestnut leaves are usually the only sounds. The Harzer Hexenstieg (Harz Witches' Path), the dams and the extensive mixed forests offer plenty of hiking opportunities in very peaceful natural surroundings, even without a car. Excursions are tempting to the Hexentanzplatz and the Rosstrappe, to the Brocken by steam train or on foot through the Bodetal. Wernigerode, Quedlinburg, Braunlage, Halberstadt Cathedral and Falkenstein Castle are all within easy reach. Several visitor mines in the area provide an insight into the mining history of the Harz. Current attractions include the 458.5m suspension bridge over the Bode Valley next to the Rappbode Dam and the "Megazipline" with approx. 1000m flight over the reservoir (Harzdrenalin)
There is a wide range of activities for winter sports enthusiasts: many cross-country ski trails are within easy reach, as is the Wurmberg in Braunlage for downhill skiing. The Wurmberg is now also artificially snowed for snow safety. Elbingerode and Schierke also offer cross-country skiing trails and can be reached quickly.

You will hardly find a more unspoilt and cosy place than Neuwerk in the Harz.
Comprising the four districts of Oberdorf, Unterdorf, Hamburg and Kreuztal, Neuwerk currently has about 130 inhabitants. With no through road, it is correspondingly quiet, as there is only the traffic of the residents and a few quiet-loving holiday guests.
The houses, mostly Harz half-timbered houses, are built into the Bode Valley in a confined space. If you are looking for peace and quiet, nature, outdoor activities or a cosy get-together, you will definitely not be disappointed in Neuwerk

Short vacation in the Harz Mountains
We met here with children and grandchildren for a few days. The accommodation is an experience, the on-site care and cleanliness are great, and the weather for hiking was also beautiful. Thank you very much, maybe it will work again sometime.

Weekend with friends.
A belated birthday present - a weekend with friends... Planned for a long time and postponed for almost as long due to Corona - now it has finally become a reality. The accommodation is perfect for 12 people, very nice and ideally located for a visit to the Harz region. The property is lovingly prepared and also visually appealing from the outside. The clock tower is also worth seeing. Everything is there - only perhaps a couch is missing. We enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable. Thank you very much and we would be happy to come back!

Great holiday with the whole family

Recommended for groups
We were looking for a property for our family get-together and found it in the Harz Mountains. The flat has a feel-good character, nothing was missing. The landlord looked after us without imposing himself. The accommodation is highly recommended, the surroundings leave enough room for activities.

Holiday with rascals
We travelled to Neuwerk with 12 people (6 adults, 6 children) and had a great time! The house and garden are beautiful and the playground across the street provided plenty to do. The landlord was very nice, helpful and made it possible for us and our children to have great experiences like visiting the clock. It was especially nice that a solution was found for all our concerns regarding the furnishings. A small flaw is the lack of a comfortable seating area for the evening - we will still be very happy to come back hopefully sometime!

Pure Erholung in Neuwerk
Bei einer Gruppengröße von 12 Personen bekamen wir mit der Alten Schule Neuwerk eine heimelige Unterkunft, die nicht besser hätte passen können.
Die Wohnung im Obergeschoss der Schule ist in einem sehr gepflegten, sauberen Zustand und auch die Grundausstattung der Küche lässt keine Wünsche offen. Sowohl Bade-, als auch Schlafzimmer sind großzügig geschnitten, so dass auch bei der Personenanzahl kein Gedränge zustande kam.
Herr Weidemann sowie der Hausmeister ermöglichten einen äußerst angenehmen und reibungslosen Aufenthalt, inklusive einer Führung durch den Turm samt Uhrwerk.
Von Neuwerk aus erreicht man, sofern ein Auto zur Verfügung steht, zahlreiche Touristenattraktionen im Harz innerhalb weniger Minuten und auch für Wanderungen, die direkt vor der Haustür beginnen sollen, ist diese Unterkunft bestens geeignet.
Alles in allem bedanken wir uns für ein schönes Wochenende!

Perfekte Unterkunft
Wir haben mit 5 Erwachsen und 3 Kindern eine wunderschöne Woche in der alten Schule verbracht. Urgemütlich, sehr gut ausgestattet und die Lage für Ausflüge ist auch ideal. Das ist wirklich etwas ganz besonderes! Unsere Kinder waren auch begeistert und wollen dort gerne wieder hin.

Großfamilienunterkunft
Die Alte Schule in neuwerk liegt herrlich ruhig mitten im Harz. Die Sanierung der Räume und des alten Uhrwerks zeigen Geschmack und Liebe zum Objekt. Gerade für eine Großfamilie oder mehrere Familien gemeinsam ist die Wohnung sehr gut geeingnet. Wanderfeunde und Naturliebhaber kommen besonders auf ihre Kosten. Aber auch das nahe Wernigerode ist wunderschön und gut erreichbar.

Tolle Unterkunft mit viel Herz und Geschichte
Tolle, gemütliche Wohnung mitten in der Natur mit viel Platz für große Gruppen. Außerdem gibt es in der Nähe viele tolle Ausflugsmöglichkeiten. Wir haben uns rund um wohl gefühlt und fanden auch die Geschichte des Hauses sehr interessant. Einen Verbesserungsvorschlag hätten wir allerdings: ein Sofa oder ein Sessel zum lümmeln und Füße hochlegen wäre super!

Schöne große Wohnung
In der Wohnung des ausgebauten Dachbodens hatten wir für unseren Familienurlaub mit 6 Erwachsenen und 2 Kindern mehr als genug Platz und eine schöne große Wohnküche.
Fußläufig erreicht man Rübeland mit seinen berühmten Tropfsteinhöhlen und dem hübschen Freibad "Bodeperle".

Tolles Familienwochenende in schöner alter Schule im Harz
Schöne Ferienwohnung für große Familientreffen geeignet oder für Treffen mit Freunden. Wir waren 10 Erw. u. 3 Kinder. Kinderbett u. Kinderstuhl waren auch vorhanden. In der Wohnung ist alles vorhanden, was man benötigt. Es gibt auch ein Garten zum Sonnen, spielen u. grillen. Guter Ausgangspunkt für viele schöne Ausflüge .
Ein größerer Kühlschrank und eine Couch wären empfehlenswert.
Zwei Schlafzimmer sind ziemlich klein, aber für ein verlängerters Wochenende genügt es vollkommen.
Wir können die Ferienwohnung auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen und kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Schöne alte Schule in Neuwerk
Zum zweiten Mal haben wir in der alten Schule mit großem Genuss unsere Herbstferien verbracht.
Die Lage ist wunderschön im Bodetal, abseits der Verkehrsstraßen.Der Wohnraum ist urgemütlich und neben der Heizung auch mit Holz heizbar. Die Ausstattung ist sehr gut und der Service angenehm.

Familientreffen mit erwachsenen Kindern
Besonders praktisch und angenehm ist die große Wohnküche mit guter Ausstattung.
Die 2-Bett-Schlafzimmer sind etwas klein - aber es ist ja nur für die Nacht. Das W-LAN ist nicht immer stabil.
Man zahlt unabhängig von der Miete eine Kaution als Anzahlung zur Buchung, die dann mit dem Stromverbrauch verrechnet wird. Ansonsten ist alles inklusive in der Miete enthalten.
Insgesamt kann ich das Quartier weiter empfehlen.
Wir hatten schöne Tage und der HM ist auch sehr hilfsbereit...

Ein schönes Wochenende im Harz!

Sturzgefahr in einem der Schlafzimmer
Das Ferienhaus mutet sehr anheimelnd an. Sehr gute Lage, sehr schönes Grundstück, gemütliches Flair.
Eines der Schlafzimmer hat am Türeinstieg eine Abwärtsstufe, diese ist nicht gekennzeichnet und man kommt leicht ins Straucheln. Nach der Abendtoilette und leider in Gedanken, kam ich zu Fall und schlug mit dem Oberschenkel auf die Bettkante auf und musste mit einer Fleischwunde das gesamte Wochenende im Krankenhaus verbringen. Fazit: Notruf funktioniert und Rettungskräfte waren schnell Vorort, die Not- OP wurde im Harzklinikum Wernigerode schnell und kompetent ausgeführt. Bitte an den Vermieter: kennzeichnet irgendwie die untypische Stufe oder nehmt ein Bett aus dem Zimmerchen.
