For your next holiday, we offer you a comfortably and cosily furnished apartment for 2 people in the green heart of Germany in the Thuringian Forest.
The flat is 55 m² and comprises a spacious living room with sofa bed (possibly for a 3rd person) and flat screen TV, a bedroom with double bed and large wardrobe, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with large bathtub and spacious shower. There is also a washing machine in the bathroom. The flat is located in the detached basement of our house.
The separate entrance can be reached via a staircase and is therefore not suitable for wheelchair users.
We rent the flat only to non-smokers and without animals. On request, a cot can be placed in the bedroom. WLAN connection is available.

Location and surroundings of object
Our flat is centrally located in the middle of the village on the Lerchenberg.
From here you have a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
Our residential area with detached houses, which was newly built 20 years ago, is in an absolutely quiet location and is ideally suited for recreation.
The flat is located in the detached basement of our house and has a separate entrance,
which can be reached via a staircase; not suitable for wheelchair users.
For relaxation after a strenuous hike, you have your own seating area with garden furniture.
If you want to enjoy the real Thuringian Rostbratwurst - a barbecue is also available. Zella-Mehlis is a state-recognised resort and lies in one of the most beautiful valley basins, nestled by the highest mountains of the Thuringian Forest south of the Rennsteig.
The two towns of Zella and Mehlis only merged in 1919. Due to the historical past, there is a market and a church in both parts of the town. The town hall, which was only built in 1924, is located in the centre of the town.
Zella-Mehlis' local mountain is the Ruppberg, which is 866 m high and a popular destination for excursions
It is a popular excursion destination with a mountain hut that is open at weekends.
From Zella-Mehlis you can hike in all four directions: to the famous high-altitude hiking trail "Rennsteig", to Oberhof, to Suhl to the "Domberg" or in the direction of Benshausen to the "Geisenhimmel-Hütte".
In winter, skiers get their money's worth on over 400 km of groomed cross-country trails in the entire Rennsteig region. Oberhof is only 11 km away from the Biathlon World Cup.
Thanks to the good motorway connections, day trips to Weimar, Erfurt, Schmalkalden or Eisenach are also possible.
There is a very special adventure park in the village, the "Meeresaqarium" with a large shark tank and crocodile house. It has become the most popular destination in Thuringia!
A new feature in Zella-Mehlis is a guest card which gives you some discounts on entrance fees.
The guest card also includes all the benefits of the Thuringian Forest Card.

Highly recommended holiday flat
Very comfortable holiday flat situated in a beautiful, well-kept garden. The location is very quiet, at the end of a dead-end street. The equipment of kitchen, bathroom, etc. is comprehensive, nothing is missing. The hosts are friendly and helpful, from booking by phone to departure

Why wander far and wide....
Our destination for summer 2018 was Ahornweg 23 in Zella-Mehlis,
we liked the ***FW of the Helfricht family right away.
The garden alone enchanted us with its diversity and colours,
the bees, bumblebees and butterflies were also delighted by the abundance of flowers.
Spacious, spotlessly clean and thought of everything,
it was a real pleasure to move into the holiday home.
There were 2 piccolos on the table to welcome us,
the flowers in the kitchen were fresh.
Excursions were also on our holiday plan,
We found suggestions for them in the thick information folder.
Coffee, food, spices, everything was there,
simply wonderful for a meal after an eventful day.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you,
because switching off from everyday life is also very important.
We dined on typical specialities in local restaurants
and often ate Thuringian bratwurst.
The weather, the excursions and hikes, everything was great
even the holiday film is now full of memories.
Now it's time to say goodbye to the Thuringian Forest,
but I'm sure we'll see each other again soon.
We are very happy that we were able to spend our holiday here
and say to family Helfricht " thank you, all the best and keep it up !"

our winter vacation
Simply great!
We have been there for the 3rd time (the first time in winter). It is always beautiful.
The apartment is lovingly furnished and superbly equipped. We use it as a base
to explore the Thuringian Forest - hiking, cycling, sightseeing. Also thanks to many
valuable tips from the landlord.
The Helfricht family is very nice, helpful, and accommodating.
We will definitely go there again.
