Description
The house consists of 2 rooms: 14 m² bedroom with double bed (160x200cm), living room & kitchen 20 m² and 6 m² bathroom with shower.
In addition, there is a large loft bed for 2 people (futon style) in the living room, which can be climbed with a ladder, from where you have a unique view of the many stars at night.
For small children we have a cot, high chair and baby bath.
Downstairs in the living room there is a sofa bed (120 x 190) and 2 comfortable armchairs.
In the kitchenette there is a cooker with oven, refrigerator with freezer, coffee machine, espresso maker, toaster, blender, pots, dishes, everything you need.
In the bathroom a hairdryer.
In winter, the house can be heated with a stove (firewood included in the price). There are also electric heaters in the bedroom and bathroom
Casa Oliva has a small terrace with table and chairs, around the house there are enough sunny or shady places to relax in comfortable garden chairs. A short distance from the house there is a small stream where you can refresh yourself. Apart from the bathroom, there is also a shower outside.

We can wash your clothes for € 5,-/machine
We rent 2 surfboards and wetsuits.
There is wifi in the cottage, unfortunately it is not always strong, so we also offer a prepaid pocket wifi (Vodafone) (approx. 1€/day)
During harvest time we share fruits and vegetables from our garden with our guests.

Location and surroundings of object
The house is situated in a small, very quiet valley, nestled among cistus bushes, willow, olive and fig trees. A short distance in front of the house flows a small stream into which you can also dip for refreshment
To the village and to the next beach it is about 4 km, the next road is 500 m away, but not visible
The climate in summer is determined by the Atlantic, even on hot days there is often a refreshing breeze, the nights are always pleasantly cool for sleeping.
In the morning you can sometimes hear the bells of the cows in the distance, from March to June the nightingales sing day and night, the bees hum and all summer long you can hear the frogs croaking and the crickets chirping. There are only a few houses in our quiet valley, one holiday home on the other side of the path, all the others are at least 400m away.
Here in the nature reserve you can go hiking (Rota Vicentina with well signposted paths), look for mushrooms (in winter) or explore the surroundings on horseback, horses are offered nearby. There is also an organic winegrower in the neighbourhood.
Aljezur is 240 km south of Lisbon and 30 km north of Lagos. It is a quiet little district town in a very rural environment. For daily needs there are all necessary shops, pharmacy, post office, banks, cafés and restaurants. There is also a German doctor in the village. Fresh fish, fruit and vegetables are on sale in the market hall daily until 1 p.m. On Saturdays, you can also do your shopping at the farmers' market. A typical Portuguese market is held monthly, where you can find everything from spanners to pot plants.
There are several surf schools and shops with surfing articles.
A few kilometres from the village are the picturesque beaches of the west coast, large and small, which are not crowded even in August. The coast of the western Algarve is one of the most beautiful in Europe. The Costa Vicentina Nature Park stretches for about 80 km of coastline and offers a rich flora and fauna and well-signposted hiking trails

Cancellation terms:
- You will be refunded half of the booking amount minus the cancellation fee, if you cancel the booking at least 7 days before the planned check-in until 12 o’clock midday CET (Central European time). For cancellations which are made less than 7 days before check-in there will be no refund.

A car is not essential, but in the face of pretty sparse public transport, makes everything much easier. Getting there: By Plane to Faro or Lisbon, then by car or by bus directly to Aljezur or train to Lagos and from there by bus to Aljezur. 2x daily there is an express bus Lisbon - Aljezur. The nearest road and bus stop is about 500 meters from our place, the village of Aljezur is just 4 Km away
Our Wifi does not quite reach up to the cabin, there is an pre-paid USB stick for the internet plus adapter for smart phone or tablet. All cafés and restaurants are offering internet Wifi.

Beautiful little house
After my vacation there in 2020 had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 (at that time I was fully reimbursed), I was finally able to travel there this year. The cottage has everything you need, rather simple but very cozy. You can tell that it was built with a lot of love. It is located in the middle of nature in an absolutely quiet location, no car/flight/city noise. Rafael and Sofia are very warm-hearted and have embellished our stay with small attentions (wine in the fridge upon arrival, homemade jam, fresh fish if the catch of the day had allowed it,...). For excursions, a rental car is worth it, but then everything is very well and quickly accessible. We felt very comfortable! And will gladly come back someday :)
